Myles Thoroton Hildyard, MBE, MC, TD, who died at Flintham, Nottinghamshire, 13 August, 2005, aged 90, was head of the BLG family, Hildyard of Flintham Hall; Lord of the Manor of Flintham and Screverton; Patron of the living of Flintham in the benefice of Flintham-cum-Kneeton.
Mr Hildyard was appointed DL 1954; received the Territorial Decoration 1950; Justice of the Peace for Nottinghamshire 1954; served in the Second World War as a Captain in the Nottinghamshire Yeomanry (Sherwood Rangers), and was twice mentioned in despatches; Barrister-at-law, Lincoln's Inn, 1945, &c.
He was born 31 December, 1914, the eldest of the three sons of His Honour Gerard Moresby Thoroton Hildyard (1874-1956), of Flintham Hall, by his wife, the former Sybil Hamilton Hoare (scion of the BLG family of Hoare of Stourton).
He was (I think) unmarried. His niece, Mary Anne Hildyard (b. 1955), is the wife of the Baron Falconer of Thoroton, Lord Chancellor.
