Nicholas Gerald Chadwyck-Healey 1946-2021

 _. Nicholas Gerald Chadwyck-Healey, who died 24 April, 2021, aged 74, was a scion of the baronets of that name.

He was born 8 July, 1946, the second son of Lt-Col Sir Charles Arthur Chadwyck-Healey, 4th Baronet [1910-86], and his wife the former Viola Lubbock [1912-95], scion of the Barons Avebury.

He married in 1978, Mrs Alison Jill Handley [nee Stevens], former wife of Mark E.S. Handley, and daughter of Dr Norton Stevens, of Thaxted, Essex, by whom he had issue, a son, Gerald [born 1979], and a daughter, Cherry [born 1980].

Hon Moira Rank [nee Hopwood] 1919-2021

 _. The Hon Moira Rank, who died 22 April, 2021, aged 101, was a scion of the extinct Barons Southborough.

She was born Moira Hopwood, 13 December, 1919, daughter of the Hon Sir Francis John Hopwood [1897-1982], sometime managing director of Shell Transport, and his wife the former Audrey Evelyn Dorothy Money. Her father succeeded as 3rd Baron Southborough on the death of his falf-brother, in 1960. The title became extict in 1982 with the death od her brother, Francis, 4th Baron.

She married firstly, 26 June 1940, Flight Lieutenant Peter Anthony Woodwark, RAFVR [who was killed in action, 17 Oct, 1943], the eldest son of Colonel Sir Stanley Woodwark, CMG, CBE, MD, FRCP; she married 2ndly, 14 February, 1946, Joseph McArthur Rank [died 1999], of Hartfield, Sussex, elder son of the late Rowland Rank, and had issue from both marriages.

Julian Herbert Gibbs 1932-2021

_.Julian Herbert Gibbs, who died 25 April, 2021, aged 88, was a scion of the Barons Hunsdon.

He was born 26 November, 1932, son of the Hon Sir Geoffrey Cokayne Gibbs, KCMG [1901-75], and his wife the former Helen Margaret Leslie [1905-79].

He married in 2014 his partner of many years, Joel O'Connor.

Ivo Robert Walter Guinness [born 2021]

_.Natasha Guinness, wife of Samuel Walter Guinness [born 1985], scion of the Guinness dynasty, gave birth to a son, Ivo Robert Walter, in London, 1 March, 2021, a brother for Rory James Marmont, who was born in Hong Kong, 3 June, 2019.

Samuel, on the baronet branch of the brewing family, is the son of Robert Chapman Guinness [born 4 February, 1937], and his wife Sarah Jane de Zoete [born 1943].

Air Vice-Marshal Donald Laurence Attlee, CB, LVO 1922-2021

 _.Air Vice-Marshal Donald Laurence Attlee, CB, LVO, who died 28 April, 2021, aged 98, was a nephew of the 1st Earl Attlee, KG, OM, CH, PC, FRS [1883-1967].

He was born 2 September, 1922, son of Maj. Laurence Gillespie Attlee [1884-1969], and his wife the former Letitia Rotton [died 1973].

He was appointed LVO in 1964, and CB in 1978.

Robert Arlo Sveaas Guinness [born 2021]

 _. Clementine Liv Coleridge Guinness [nee Sveaas, born 1 July, 1984] wife of Richard de Zoete Guinness [born 22 July, 1981], scion of the brewing dynasty, gave birth to a son, Robert Arlo Sveaas, 7 April, 2021.

Clemmie Guinness is a daughter of Haakon Sveaas, of Pimlico, London, and his wife the former Jenny Coleridge [born 1947], scion of the Barons Coleridge.

Richard Guinness, a member of the Guinness family descended from the branch awarded a baronetcy, is the son of Robert Chapman Guinness [born 4 February, 1937], and his wife Sarah Jane de Zoete [born 1943].

The Baron Smith of Clifton 1937-2021

 _.Lord Smith of Clifton, Liberal Democrat life peer, university vice-chancellor and sometime chairman of the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust, died 24 April, 2021. He was 83. 

He served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ulster, 1991-99.

Trevor Arthur Smith was born 14 June, 1937, the son of Arthur James Smith and his wife the former Vera Gladys Cross. 

He married firstly 1960 [div 1973], Brenda Susan Eustace [born 1937], daughter of George William Francis Eustace; married 2ndly, 1979, Julia Donnithorne Bullock [born 1949], daughter of Edward John Donnithorne Bullock. He leaves two sons from his first marriage, and a daughter from his second marriage.

He was created a life peer in 1997 and his peerage was gazetted as Baron Smith of Clifton, of Mounstandel, in the County of Londonderry.

Lorna Rosemary Weston Brooke 1983-2021

 _.Lorna Rosemary Weston Brooke, a scion of the Brooke baronets, an amateur jockey, died following a fall at Taunton Racecourse, 18 April, 2021. She was 37.

She was born in 1983, daughter of Sir Alistair Weston Brooke, 4th Baronet [born 12 September, 1947], and his wife the former Susan Mary Griffiths.

Lorna was riding Orchestrated for her mother, Lady Brooke, when the horse fell at the third fence in a handicap chase on 8 April. The 37-year-old was taken to intensive care at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for observation and tests on a suspected spinal injury. After complications she was later placed in an induced coma. A statement from the Injured Jockeys Fund on Monday said: "It is with deep sadness that we have to share the tragic news that Lorna Brooke passed away yesterday. "Her family thank everyone for their kindness in the last few weeks, particularly the staff at Southmead Hospital who were so professional. "They will be having a private funeral and will hold a celebration of Lorna's life once Covid restrictions allow."

Elizabeth Margaret Lowry-Corry 1921-2021

 _.Elizabeth Margaret Lowry-Corry, who died 18 April, 2021, aged 99, was a scion of the Earls of Belmore.

She was born 1 May, 1921, daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Henry Charles Lowry-Corry, MC, JP [1887-1973], sometime Vice Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk, and his wife the former Betty Alice Adeline Proby [1889-1978], scion of the Proby baronets.

Miss Lowry-Corry was a great-granddaughter of the 3rd Earl of Belmore [1801-45], a great-granddaughter of Charles Wood, 1st Viscount Halifax [1800-85], and a great-granddaughter of the 4th Earl of Donoughmore [1823-66].

John Sentamu's life peerage gazetted

 _. The life peerage awarded to the Rt Rev John Sentamu, has been gazetted in the name, style and title of Baron Sentamu, of Lindisfarne in the County of Northumberland and of Masooli in the Republic of Uganda, 27 April, 2021.

John Sentamu [born 10 June, 1949] served as Archbisbop of York from 2005 to 2020.

Capt Sir David Clayton, 12th Baronet 1936-2021

 _.Capt. Sir David Clayton, 12th Baronet, who died 22 April, 2021, aged 84, was a Shipmaster [merchant navy] and sometime director of Oceanic Liners [UK] Ltd.

David Robert Clayton was born 12 December, 1936, son of Lieut-Cdr Sir Arthur Harold Clayton, 11th Baronet, DSC, RN [1903-85], and his 2nd wife the former Alexandra Andreevsky, daughter of Sergei Andreevsky.

He was educated in HMS Conway and joined the Merchant Service in 1953, and was promoted to first command as Captain in 1970; a Director of Oceanic Liners [UK] Ltd from 1989.

David Clayton, of Kingswear, Dartmouth, Devon, succeeded his father in the baronetcy, 6 August, 1985. 

He married in 1971, Julia Louise Redfearn, daughter of Charles Henry Redfearn, by whom he had two sons, Robert, and John. The elder son, Robert Philip Clayton, born 8 July, 1975, now succeeds to the baronetcy which was created in 1732.

 _.The life peerage recently awarded to Dame Susan Margaret Black, DBE, FBA, FRSE, FRCP, FRAI, has been gazetted in the name, style and title of Baroness Black of Strome.

Susan Margaret Black [née Gunn, was born 7 May 1961]. She is a Scottish forensic anthropologist, anatomist and academic. She is the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Engagement at Lancaster University and is the current President of the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland. From 2005 to 2018 she was Professor of Anatomy and Forensic Anthropology at the University of Dundee.

The House of Lords website records that Dame Susan's peerage was gazetted on 26 April, 2021, Her nomination as a Crossbench life peer was announced  by the House of Lords Appointments Commission on 24 February, 2021.

William John Palairet Hicks (born 1983), is the son of Mr Jeremy William Hicks, of Winstone, co Gloucester, and his wife the former Joanna Vivian Palairet [born 1955], daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel John Hamilton Palairet [1917-69], and his wife the former Anne Marjorie Bibby [born 1928], daughter of Major Sir [Arthur] Harold Bibby, 1st Baronet [1889-1986].

William Hicks's mother is a great-niece of Sir Michael Palairet, who was British Ambassador to Greece in the Second World War.

Alexia is the second wife of Mr Hicks. He married 1stly, in 2010 (div 2012) Catherine Grace daughter of Lt-Col Andrew Gillepsie, of Wellington, Somerset.

Alexia Hicks is a scion of the Brandram landed family, & descended from the Royal House of Greece & Denmark, younger daughter of (Richard) Paul George Andrew Brandram (1948-2020), of London, by his former 1st wife the former Jennifer Diane Steele (b 1951, now Mrs Robert Enslow, also of London).
