Jane, Lady Portal, who died 1 April, 2025, aged 100, was the widow of Sir Francis Portal, 5th Baronet (1903-1984).
She was born 13 September, 1924, a daughter of Capt Albert Henry Williams, OBE (1863-1941), of Langstone, Hampshire, and his wife the former Edith Barbara Crow (1892-1930); and married, 7 Oct, 1950, as his 2nd wife, Francis Spencer Portal (born 27 June, 1903), son of Sir Spencer John Portal, 4th Baronet (1864-1955), and his wife the former Mary Laura Florence Mure (who died 4 Apr, 1932). Her husband succeeded his father in the baronetcy, 25 Nov, 1955, and died 11 Nov, 1984.
She leaves two children, sons, Sir Jonathan Portal, 6th Baronet (born 13 Jan, 1953), and Philip Francis Portal (born 6 July, 1957), and was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Jane (1955-2012).
