Jonathan Irwin, bloodstock luminary, died 10 December, 2023, aged 82.
Jonathan Hiatt Nicolson Dermot Irwin was born 21 June, 1941, the only child of John Irwin, an actor, and the actress Philippa Hiatt (1918-2016); and married 1stly, in Feb 1964 (div 1989), the Hon Mikaela Rawlinson (born 1941), daughter of the life peer the Baron Rawlinson of Ewell, PC, QC (1919-2006), the barrister and Conservative politician, by his 1st wife the former Haidee Kavanagh; he married 2ndly, in 1991, Mary Ann O'Brien, from a racing family, daughter of Phonsie O'Brien and niece of Vincent O'Brien.
From his first marriage he had issue, four sons, Charles, Luke, Jago and Samson, one of whom died young. From his second marriage he leaves two daughters, and was predeceased by two sons.
His second son, Luke (born 18 Sept, 1967), is the husband of Alice Rosalind Elliot (born 1977), daughter of the late Simon John Elliot (1940-2023), and his wife the former (Sonia) Annabel Shand (born 2 Feb, 1949), sister of Her Majesty Queen Camilla.
