Mary [Mimi], Baroness Manton, widow of the 3rd Baron, died 15 August, 2022. She was 97.
She was born Mary Elizabeth [known as Mimi] Hallinan, 7 Apr, 1925 [twin with a sister Evelyn], scion of an Irish landed gentry family, daughter of Maj Thomas Francis Dennehy Hallinan [1895-1959], of Ashbourne, Glounthaune, Co Cork, and his wife the former Millicent Georgina Walshe [d 12 Apr, 1970]; and married 9 January, 1951, the Hon [Joseph] Rupert Eric Robert Watson [born 22 January, 1924], son of the 2nd Baron Manton [1899-1968], and his wife the former Althea Alice Mary Pauline Langdale [1902-79]. Her husband succeeded his father, 10 June, 1968, as the 3rd Baron Manton, and died 8 Aug, 2003.
Lady Manton is the mother of two sons, Miles, the 4th Baron [born 7 May, 1958], and the Hon Thomas [born 7 May, 1958], and three daughters, Claire [born 7 Jan, 1952], wife of the 3rd Baron Hesketh, Fiona [b 26 Sept, 1953], Victoria [born 7 May, 1958]. [Miles, Thomas and Victoria being triplets].
