David Richard Hartigan Archibald, who died 27 July, 2022, aged 86, was a scion of that landed gentry family, of Rusland Hall, Ulverston.
He was born 29 April, 1936, second son of Roger Campbell Archibald [1903-78], head of the family, of Barrowbanks, Newby Bridge, Ulverston, Cumbria, and his wife the former Alice May Hartigan [1905-88]; and married 14 July, 1967, Susan Yvonne Bridget Mansfield White, daughter of Maj William Alexander White, of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, by whom he had issue, two daughters, Camilla and Katrina.
