Sir Richard Bird, 4th Baronet 1935-2021

 Sir Richard Bird, 4th Baronet, died 16 June, 2021. He was 85.

Richard Geoffrey Chapman Bird was born 3 November, 1935, the second but elder surviving son of Sir Donald Bird, 3rd Baronet (1906-1963), and his wife the former Anne Rowena Chapman (who died 1969), and succeeded his father in the baronetcy, 18 Oct, 1963.

The title was created in 1922 for his great-grandfather Sir Alfred Bird (1849-1922), Conservative MP for Wolverhampton West 1910-22, chairman of Alfred Bird & Sons, chemists.

He married firstly, 2 February, 1957, Gillian Frances Haggett (who died 6 Nov, 1966), daughter of Bernard Haggett, of Solihull, Warwickshire; married 2ndly, 15 April, 1968, Helen Patricia Beaumont, daughter of Frank C. Beaumont, of Pontefract, West Yorkshire.

Sir Richard had two sons and three daughters from his first marriage, and two daughters from his second marriage. His eldest son, John Andrew Bird (born 19 January, 1964), succeeds to the baronetcy.
