David Ean Coleridge 1932-2020

 _. David Ean Coleridge, who has died aged 88, was Chairman of Lloyd's 1991, 1992 [Deputy Chairman 1985, 1988, & 1989].

He was born 7 June, 1932, son of Guy Cecil Richard Coleridge, MC, and his wife the former Katherine Cicely Stewart Smith, and was educated at Eton. He was descended from a brother of the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

Career: Glanvill Enthoven, 1950-57; R.W. Sturge & Co., 1957-95, Director 1966-95; Chairman, A.L. Sturge Holdings Ltd [now Sturge Holdings PLC], 1978-95; Chairman, Oxford Agency Holdings Ltd 1987-90; Ockham Holdings, 1995; Director, R.A. Edwards [Holdings] Ltd 1985-90; Director, Wise Speke Holdings Ltd 1987-94; Member of the Council and Committee of Lloyd's 1983-92; &c.

Married in 1955, Susan Senior, by whom he had three sons, including Nicholas Coleridge, CBE, Chairman of the Victoria and Albert Museum, Chairman of the Prince of Wales' Campaign for Wool and Chairman of the Gilbert Trust for the Arts. He is an ambassador for the Landmark Trust and a patron of the Elephant Family.
