_. Christopher Gibbs, who has died aged 79, was a scion of the Barons Aldenham & Hunsdon, an antiques dealer, interior designer, bibliophile, and aesthete, & friend of Sir Mick Jagger, who pioneered a style of interior decoration often described as 'distressed bohemian'---------
He was born 29 July, 1938, the fifth son of the Hon Sir Geoffrey Cokayne Gibbs, KCMG (1901-75), by his wife the former Helen Margaret Leslie, and was a grandson of Herbert Cokayne Gibbs, 1st Baron Hunsdon (1854-1935).
It was Herbert Gibbs who, in 1908, acquired the manor of Hunsdon. This manor with the title of Baron Hunsdon was granted by Queen Elizabeth I to her first cousin, Henry Carey, and ancestor of Gibbs, who, in 1923, was raised to the peerage.
