The Viscount St. Vincent, who died at his home in Jersey, Channel Islands, 4 September, 2006, was aged 101.Ronald George James Jervis, 7th Viscount (Peerage of the United Kingdom, created 1801) was born 3 May, 1905, son of the 6th Viscount (1859-1940) by his wife, the former Marion Annie Brown (d. 1911), and was educated at Sherborne.Career: - - - > served in the Second World War as acting Lieutenant-Commander, RNVR; Justice of the Peace for Somerset, 1950-55, &c.He succeeded to the peerage on the demise of his father in 1940. His ancestor, Admiral Sir John Jervis, First Lord of the Admiralty 1801-04, was the celebrated naval commander who obtained a splendid victory over the Spanish Fleet at Cape St. Vincent.He married in 1945, Constance Phillida Anne, daughter of Lt-Col. Robert Hector Logan, OBE, by whom he had issue, the Hon. Edward Robert James, b. 12 May, 1951, and the Hon. (Ronald Nigel) John, b. 1954. The title devolves upon his elder son.
