Major Oscar Richard Herschel Chichester, late the Rifle Brigade, who died at his home at Colyton, Devon, 28 May, 2006, aged 90, was a scion of the Marquesses of Donegall.He was b. 1915, a son of Shane Randolph Chichester, OBE (1883-1969), by his wife Madeline Herschel (d. 1977), daughter of Henry Arthur Whately; educated at Wellington College, Trinity College, Cambridge (BA); career:-- Major, Rifle Brigade (Prince Consort's Own); ADC to the High Commissioner for Palestine 1946-48; served in Palestine 1936 (awarded medal), 1939-45 War (received African Star); married 1951, Margaret Edmondson Farr, daughter of Charles Edgar Farr, JP, of Weston Bury, Weston, Hitchin, Hertfordshire, by whom he had issue.The funeral takes place on Friday June 16, at St Andrew's Church, Colyton, Devon.
