Lady Harwood (1938-2013)

_.Lady Harwood, who died 1 July, 2013, was the wife for over 50 years of the playwright and screenwriter, Sir Ronald Harwood, CBE (b 1934). She was descended from Catherine the Great. The Russian Empress was Lady Harwood's great-great-great-great grandmother. Lady Harwood was born in London in 1938 as Natasha Reihle, younger daughter of William Riehle by his wife Helene Bobrinsky (1914-96). Her maternal grandparents were Count Lev Bobrinsky (1878-1922), who died in a Soviet prison in 1922, by his wife Princess Vera Galitzine (1877-1967). (Arthur) William George Patrick Hay was b 26 May, 1935, son of George Harley Hay, the 14th Earl of Kinnoull (1902-38), by his 2nd wife the former Mary Ethel Isabel Meyrick (d Dec 1938), dau of Dr Ferdinand Richard Holmes Meyrick, and succeeded to the family honours on his father's death, 18 Mar, 1938. He married 1 June, 1961, Gay Anne Lowson, dau of Sir Denys Lowson, 1st Baronet, Lord Mayor of London 1950-51, by whom he had issue, a son and three daughters. _.Sir Henry Richard Amherst Cecil, the legendary racehorse trainer, who died 11 June, 2013, aged 70, was a scion of the Barons Amherst of Hackney (Baron UK, 1892). He was born posthumously 11 Jan 1943, third son of the Hon Henry Kerr Auchmuty Cecil (1914-1942), by his wife the former Elizabeth Rohays Mary Burnett of Leys (later Lady Boyd-Rochfort, wife of Sir Cecil Boyd-Rochfort) and daughter of Maj-Gen Sir James Burnett of Leys, 13th Baronet, CB, CMG, DSO, &c. Cecil was thrice married, 1stly in 1966, to Julie, daughter of Sir Noel Murless, by whom he had a son and a daughter. The marriage was dissolved in 1990, and he married secondly, in 1992, Nathalie Payne, with whom he had a son. That marriage was dissolved in 2002. _.The Hon Harold Denman, who died 8 May, 2013, aged 91, was a scion of the Barons Denman (Baron, Peerage of the UK, cr 1834), & was b 26 Jan 1922, second son of the Hon Sir Richard Douglas Denman, 1st Baronet 1876-1957 (Bt, cr UK, 1945), by his 2nd wife, the former Mary Radley Spencer. In 1971 his elder brother, Sir Charles Denman, 2nd Bt succeeded to the peerage; married 1976, Lady Frances Esme Curzon (b 8 June, 1939), a great-aunt of Prince Harry's girlfriend, Cressida Bonas, daughter of the 5th Earl Howe (1884-1964), and former wife of Derek Alan Whiting, by whom he had issue, one son, Roland Sebastian Richard Denman, who was born in 1977. She born 1924, a daughter of Col Sir Geoffrey Ronald Codrington, KCVO CB CMG DSO OBE TD (1888-1973), and Cecilia Mary (1900-79) d of Ernest James Wythes, CBE DL JP (1868-1949) sometime head of that gentry family, formerly of Copped Hall, Epping, and Aline (c1870-1951) d of Sir John Henry Thorold, 12th Bt (1842-1922) and Hon Alexandrina Henrietta Matilda Willoughby (1845-1931) dau of 8th Baron Middleton. She married 1949 Rt Hon Robert Thomas Boscawen, PC,MC (b 1923), Conservative MP for Wells 1970-83, and for Somerton and Frome, 1983-92, a Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury 1980-83, Vice-Chamberlain HM Household, 1983-86, Comptroller of HM Household 1986-88, Govt Whip 1979-88, &c. younger brother of the present 9th Viscount Falmouth. Funeral Service on Thursday 16th May, 2013, at Wells Cathedral.

_.The Lady Eileen Cecil Theo Fitton (nee Paulet), who died in Canada, 3 May, 2013, aged 95, was a sister of the 17th Marquess if Winchester, Premier Marquess of England (Peerage cr 1551). She was born in 1916, 2nd daughter of Maj Charles Standish Paulet, MVO (1873-1953), by his wife the former Lillian Jane Charlotte Fosbery, and was raised to the rank of the daughter of a marquess in 1970. Her brother Richard succeeded as 17th Marquess on the demise of his kinsman in 1962, and died unm 5 Mar 1968. Lady Eileen was twice wed, 1stly in 1941, to Harry Evan Martin, who died 1946, and secondly, in 1949, to Joseph Fitton, who died in 1996. She leaves issue from both marriages. -=-
