Sophia Emma Van Den Arend, MBE, died 19 July, 2025, aged 84.
She was born Sophia Emma Reed, 21 December, 1941, daughter of Edward Percy Reed (1884-1942), and his wife the former Joan Grace Sandwith (1899-1968); and married in July, 1968, Commander Jeremy Frederik Van Den Arend (1930-2015), of Stanhope Mews, SW7, eldest son of Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Frederik John Van Den Arend (1901-1942), and his wife the former Christine Irene Clutterbuck (1899-1981), scion of that landed gentry family.
She leaves issue, two sons, Charles Edward Frederik (born 1971), Nicholas James (born 1973), and a daughter, Henrietta Louise (born 1969).
