Mary Violet Sweet, who died 1 July, 2025, aged 97, was a scion of the Trotman-Dickenson landed gentry family.
She was born in 1928 a daughter of Capt Edward Newton Trotman-Dickenson, MC (1895-1977), head of that landed family, by his wife the former Violet Murray Nicoll (1897-1989); and married 1961, Canon John Philip McMurdo Sweet (1927-2009), by whom she had issue, one son, Richard John McMurdo Sweet, and two daughters, Alison and Rosemary.
