The Hon Susan Donne Cavendish (nee Beauchamp), who died 3 January, 2025, aged 80, was a scion of the Barons North, and a co-heiress to the barony which has been abeyant for 84 years.
She was born 14 March, 1944, eldest of the three daughters of Dr Frederick Guy Beauchamp, MD, MRCS (1902-1981), by his wife the Hon Susan Silence North (1920-1999), scion of the Barons North, daughter of Dudley William John North (1891-1936), and his wife the former Dorothy Catherine Donne (1893-1980), and was a niece of John Dudley North, 13th Baron North (1917-1941), upon whose death when he was killed in action in HMS Neptune, 19 Dec, 1941, his peerage (created in 1554), fell into abeyance between his two sisters. The peerage remains abeyant to this day.
Susan married 4 November, 1965 (div.1969), the Hon Nicholas Charles Cavendish (born 7 November, 1941), son of the 5th Baron Chesham, PC (1916-1989), and his wife the former Mary Edmunds Marshall (c1917-2007). Her former husband succeeded his father as 6th Baron Chesham, 23 Dec, 1989, and died 27 Aug, 2009.
Mrs Cavendish leaves a son, James NORTH, who was born in 1972.
