James Roland Fleming, who died 22 November, 2024, aged 89, was a scion of the Fleming landed gentry family, of Nettlebed, co Oxford, and cousin of the James Bond creator Ian Fleming.
James Fleming was a novelist, publisher, editor, farmer and forester in Gloucestershire and Caithness.
He was born 26 February, 1944, the eldest son of Maj. Richard Evelyn Fleming (1910-1977), and his wife the former Hon Dorothy Charmian Hermon-Hodge (1913-2001), daughter of the 2nd Baron Wyfold (1880-1942), and his wife, Dorothy Fleming (who died 1976).
He married in 1975, Kathryn Alice (Kate) Rooksby, by whom he had two sons, Christian (born 1977), and Thomas (born 1980).
