Elizabeth Frances Husted (nee Hanbury-Williams) 1929-2024

 Elizabeth Frances Husted, who died in Washington DC, 7 November, 2024, aged 94, was a scion of the Hanbury-Williams landed gentry family.

She was born 6 December, 1929, a daughter of Sir John Colbrook Hanbury-Williams, CVO (1892-1965), and his wife  Zenaida "Ida" Cantacuzene (1908-80), a daughter of Prince Michael Cantacuzene, Count Speransky (1875-1955) and Julia Dent (Grant) Cantacuzene (1876-1975), herself a granddaughter of Gen. Ulysses S, Grant (1822-85), 18th President of the United States, 1869-77.

Her father was appointed a Gentleman Usher to King George V in 1931, and served as Gentleman Usher to King Edward VIII in 1936. Between 1936 and 1965 Hanbury-Williams held the office of Lieutenant of the City of London. He was Gentleman Usher to King George VI between 1937 and 1946, and was Extra Gentleman Usher to the King between 1946 and 1952. He was invested as a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in the 1956 New Year Honours.

She married firstly, at St James's, Spanish Place, London, 24 July, 1951 (div. 1968), Brian Patrick Morgan Keeling (1927-1990), son of Sir John Henry Keeling (1895-1978), of Sedlescombe, Sussex, and his wife the former Dorothy May Finucane; and married 2ndly, in London, 6 June, 1972, John Grinnell Wetmore Husted, Jr (1926-1999), son of John Grinnell Wetmore Husted (1897-1965), of Bedford, Westchester County, New York, and his wife the former Helen Armstrong (1901-1964). 

From her first marriage she had issue, a son, Patrick Keeling (born 31 May, 1956), and a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth (born 6 July, 1954, who died in August, 2024, aged 70), wife of Henry Greville Cator (born 26 March, 1956), scion of that landed gentry family.
