Hon Jill Ganzoni 1931-2022

 The Hon Jill Ganzoni, who died 21 April, 2022, aged 91, was a scion of the Barons Belstead. 

She was born 27 March, 1931, the only daughter of the 1st Baron Belstead [1882-1958]. Her father, Francis John Childs Ganzoni, was a Barrister, Inner Temple 1906; served in World War I with the 4th Battalion, The Suffolk Regiment; Member of Parliament (Unionist) for Ipswich 1914-23 and 1924-38; knighted 1921; Chairman Private Bills Committee, House of Commons 1923-38; Parliamentary Private Secretary (unpaid) to the Postmaster-General 1924-29; temporary Chairman of Committees, House of Commons 1932-34; Chairman Kitchen Committee 1932-38, who was raised to the peerage in 1938 &c. Her mother was Gwendolen Gertrude Turner [who died 23 Feb, 1962].

Her brother, John, the 2nd [and last] Baron Belstead [1932-2005], a bachelor, was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Department of Education and Science 1970-73; Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Northern Ireland 1973-74; Under Secretary of State, Home Office 1979-82; Privy Councillor 1981; Minister of State, Foreign Office 1982-83; Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food 1983-87; Deputy Leader of the House of Lords 1984-88;  Minister of State, Department of the Environment 1987-88; Lord Privy Seal and Leader of the House of Lords 1988-90;  Paymaster-General and Minister of State for Northern Ireland 1990-92; Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk 1994-2005.

Jill Ganzoni was unmarried.
