Sir William James Lithgow, 2nd Baronet, died 28 February, 2022, aged 87.
Sir William, of Ormsary, co Argyll, was a director of the Royal Bank of Scotland, and was a member of the Queen's Body Guard for Scotland [Royal Company of Archers]. He was a baronet for 70 years.
He was born 10 May, 1934, son of Sir James Lithgow, 1st Baronet [1883-1952], GBE, CB, MC, TD, and his wife the former Gwendolyn Amy Harrison [1897-1975]. and succeeded to the baronetcy [created in 1925], on his father's death, 23 February, 1952.
He married [1] 31 January, 1964, Valerie Helen Scott [who died 1964], daughter of Denis Herbert Scott, CBE, of Westerham, Kent; married 2ndly, 29 September, 1967, Mary Claire Hill, DL [Argyll & Bute], daughter of Colonel Frank Moutray Hill, CBE, of East Knoyle, Salisbury, Wiltshire, by whom he had issue, two sons, James and John, and a daughter, Katrina. The elder son, James Frank Lithgow [born 13 June, 1970], succeeds to the baronetcy
