The engagement was announced 2 March, 2022 between Simon Victor Bowcock [born 1986], son of Martin Victor Bowcock [born 1955], of Reading, Berkshire, and his wife the former Diane Taylor, and Eliza Violet Daria Abel Smith [born 15 March, 1991], scion of that landed gentry family, daughter of David Francis Abel Smith [born 3 February, 1940], of Quenington, Gloucestershire, and his wife the former Lucy Marie Knox [born 1950].
Eliza Abel Smith is a cousin, several times removed, of HM The Queen, both being descended from the banker Abel Smith.
