The engagement is announced between Thomas Anthony Gerard [Tom] Asquith [born 1992], scion of the Earls of Oxford & Asquith, elder son of the Hon Sir Dominic Antony Gerard Asquith, KCMG [born 1957], of Mells, Somerset, by his wife the former Louise Elizabeth Cotton, & Lucy Emma Carr-Ellison [born 1986], scion of that landed family, eldest daughter of Major John McMorrough Carr-Ellison, of Hedgeley, Northumberland, by his wife the former Catherine Babington Smith [b 3 Mar, 1952], daughter of David Babington Smith [1907-89], by his wife the former Hon Mary Joan Fenella Hope-Morley [1915-2015], daughter of the 2nd Baron Hollenden [1885-1977].
Tom Asquith is a grandson of the 2nd Earl of Oxford & Asquith [1916-2011], and is a great-great grandson of Herbert Henry Asquith, 1st Earl of Oxford & Asquith [1852-1928], Prime Minister, 1908-1916.
