_. The 5th Baron Northbourne, who died 8 September, 2019, aged 93, was one of the hereditary peers elected to the House of Lords in 1999.
Christopher George Walter James was born 18 February, 1926, son of the 4th Baron Northbourne [1896-1982], by his wife the former Katherine Louise Nickerson [died 1980]; and succeeded to the peerage [created in 1884], on the demise of his father, 17 June, 1982.
He married 18 July, 1959, Aliki Louise Helene Marie-Synge Claudel, daughter of Henri Claudel, of Chatou-sur-Seine, France, by whom he had three sons, and one daughter.
He is succeeded in the peerage and baronetcy [which was cr 1791], by his eldest son, the Hon Charles Walter Henri James [born 14 June, 1960].
The funeral takes place at St Augustine's Church, Northbourne, 20 September, 2019.
