_. The Marquess of Ailsa, Chief of the name and arms of the clan Kennedy, who died suddenly in Florida, 15 January, 2015, aged 58, was the eighth holder of the peerage (Marquess, cr UK, 1831).
Archibald David Kennedy was born 13 Sept, 1956, son of the 7th Marquess (1925-94), by his wife the former Mary Burn (d 2007), and succeeded to the peerage on his father's death, 7 Apr, 1994.
Lord Ailsa was also Earl of Casillis in the peerage of Scotland (cr 1509), Lord Kennedy (also in the peerage of Scotland), and Baron Ailsa (Peerage of the UK), &c.
The marquess married in 1979 (div 1989), Dawn Leslie Anne Keen, only daughter of David A. Keen, by whom he had two daughters, Lady Rosemary Kennedy (born in 1980), and Lady Alicia-Jane Kennedy, who was born in 1981.
He is succeeded in the family honours by his younger brother, Lord David Thomas Kennedy, of Morriston, Culzean, co Ayr, who was born 3 July, 1958.
