The engagement was announced 27 November, 2017, between His Royal Highness Prince Henry Charles Albert David (Harry) of Wales (born 15 Sept, 1984), second son of HRH The Prince of Wales (born 14 Nov, 1948), by his first wife, the former Lady Diana Frances Spencer (1961-97), & Rachel Meghan Markle (born 4 Aug, 1981), daughter of Mr Thomas Wayne Markle, by his second former wife, the former Doria Loyce Ragland.

The couple, both descended from King Edward III, are to marry at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, in May, 2018.

_. The Lady Louisa Spicer, who died 26 November, 2017, aged 69, was a scion of the Earls Cathcart.

She was born Lady Louisa Cathcart, 27 Apr, 1948, the elder daughter of the 6th Earl Cathcart, CB, DSO, MC (1919-99), by his first wife, the former Rosemary Smyth-Osbourne (who d 1980); married 1stly, 1975, Norman Kirkpatrick Cosgrave (d 1991); married 2ndly, 2009, Julian Spicer.

Diana Mary Leslie-Melville (d 2017)

__. Diana Mary Leslie-Melville, who died 25 November, 2017, was the widow of the Hon George David Leslie-Melville (1924-97), scion of the Earls of Leven & Melville, and was descended from the Earls of Morton.

She was a daughter of Brigadier Sir Henry Houldsworth (1896-1963), scion of that landed family, by his wife Katharine Douglas, scion of the Earls of Morton, and married the Hon George Leslie-Melville in 1955, and had issue.

__. The infant son of Mr Thomas Paul Overton & Clementine Rhodes, descended from the Towneleys of Towneley Hall, Preston, was christened Spike Thomas Michael, at St Mark's Church, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, on Sunday 26 November, 2017.

Great-granddaughter for Lady Pamela Hicks

_. Maddison May Olamide Modupe-Ojo (b 16 May, 1994), wife of Olaoluwa Olamide Modupe-Ojo, and descended from Queen Victoria, gave birth to a daughter, Daphne, in Manchester, 26 November, 2016.

 

Maddison is the daughter of Jeremy Alexander Rothwell Brudenell and his wife the former Edwina Victoria Louise Hicks (b 1961), elder daughter of the late David Nightingale Hicks by his wife the former Lady Pamela Carmen Louise Mountbatten (b 1929), younger daughter of the late 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma.

 

Maddison's husband is a musician under the name "Jazz Purple".

Baron Hutchinson of Lullington, QC 1915-2017

__. The Lord Hutchinson of Lullington, QC, who has died aged 102, was a life peer, leading criminal barrister, whose extraordinary career included the defence of Christine Keeler and the spy George Blake.

Jeremy Nicolas Hutchinson was born 28 March, 1915, the son of St John Hutchinson, QC, by his wife the former Mary Barnes.

Called to the Bar in 1939, at the Middle Temple; Bencher 1963; Recorder of Bath 1962-72, and a Recorder of the Crown Court 1972-76; late Chairman of the Trustees of the Tate Gallery; created Baron Hutchinson of Lullington (1978).

Married firstly, 1940 (div 1966) Dame Peggy Ashcroft, the actress, who died in 1991; married secondly, 1966, Mrs June Osborn, daughter of Capt Arthur Capel, scion of the extinct Barons Ribblesdale. He leaves issue from his first marriage.

Lady Cynthia Rosalie Postan 1918-2017

_. The Lady Cynthia Postan, who died 12 November, 2017, aged 99, was a debutante & MI5 secretary who wrote official reports on jet engines before becoming an expert of plants and porcelain. She was a scion of the Earls of Albemarle.

She was born Lady Cynthia Rosalie Keppel, 25 June, 1918, the second daughter of the 9th Earl of Albemarle (1882-1979), by his first wife Lady Judith Sydney Myee Wynn-Carrington (d 1928), fourth daughter of the 1st and last Marquess of Lincolnshire, KG.

She married 8 Dec, 1944, Professor Michael Moissey Postan (who d 1981), by whom she had issue.

Baron Imbert, CVO 1933-2017

__. The Lord Imbert, a life peer, died 13 November, 2017. He was 84.

As Sir Peter Imbert he was  Metropolitan Police Commissioner; cr a life peer in 1999,; CVO in 2008, &c.

He married in 1956, Iris Dove, who survives him with their three children.

The 9th Baron Langford, OBE 1912-2017

_. The Lord Langford, 9th Baron, died 12 November, 2017. He was 105.

Geoffrey Alexander Rowley-Conwy was one of Wales's most colourful characters. He was an officer who staged a hair-raising 1,659-mile escape in a decrepit sailing boat across the Indian Ocean after the fall of Singapore.

He was born 8 March, 1912, the son of Capt Geoffrey Seymour Rowley-Conwy (1877- killed in action at Gallipoli, 1915), by his wife the former Bertha Gabrielle Cochran (d 1984), and was descended from the 1st Baron. He succeeded as 9th holder of the peerage on the death of a kinsman, 19 Aug, 1953.

Lord Langford married firstly, 1939 (div 1956), Ruth St John Murphy (who died in 1991); married 2ndly, in 1957,Grete von Freiesleben, who died in 1973; married thirdly, in 1975, the family nanny, Susan Winifred Denham.

By his second marriage Lord Langford had three sons, and he is succeeded by his third son, the Hon Owain Grenville Rowley-Conwy, who was born 27 December, 1958.

Sir Richard Hardy, 5th Baronet 1945-2017

_. Sir Richard Hardy, 5th Baronet, died 10 November, 2017, aged 72.

Richard Charles Chandos Hardy was born 6 Feb, 1945, son of Sir Rupert Hardy, 4th Baronet (1902-97), by his wife the former Hon Diana Joan Allsopp, daughter of the 3rd Baron Hindlip; succeeded to the baronetcy (cr UK 1876), in 1997; married 1972, Venetia Wingfield Digby, scion of that landed family, who survives him, together with their four daughters, Arabella, Jacquetta, Georgina and Henrietta.

Funeral and Remembrance Service to be held at Sherborne Abbey, Wednesday 6 December, 2017.
