__. The Lord Hutchinson of Lullington, QC, who has died aged 102, was a life peer, leading criminal barrister, whose extraordinary career included the defence of Christine Keeler and the spy George Blake.
Jeremy Nicolas Hutchinson was born 28 March, 1915, the son of St John Hutchinson, QC, by his wife the former Mary Barnes.
Called to the Bar in 1939, at the Middle Temple; Bencher 1963; Recorder of Bath 1962-72, and a Recorder of the Crown Court 1972-76; late Chairman of the Trustees of the Tate Gallery; created Baron Hutchinson of Lullington (1978).
Married firstly, 1940 (div 1966) Dame Peggy Ashcroft, the actress, who died in 1991; married secondly, 1966, Mrs June Osborn, daughter of Capt Arthur Capel, scion of the extinct Barons Ribblesdale. He leaves issue from his first marriage.
