___The 4th Baron Ampthill, CBE, deputy Speaker of the House of Lords, died 23 April, 2011. He was 89. He was the baby of the famous "Russell Baby Case" --- one of the most famous divorce/paternity cases of the 20th century.

Jane Duchess of Buccleuch & Queensberry, widow of the 9th Duke, died 18 April, 2011. 

She was fashion model Jane McNeill, born 19 December, 1929, at Shanghai, daughter of John McNeill, QC (born 19 May, 1899), of Appin, Argyll, crown advocate in Shanghai and a barrister in Hong Kong, by his wife the former Amy Yvonne Maynard, a concert pianist; and she married at Edinburgh, 10 January, 1953, the 9th Duke of Buccleuch & Queensberry.  He died 4 September, 2007. She leaves issue. 

Her funeral is to take place at Melrose, Scotland, 27 Apr, 2011.

Death of the Duke of Grafton, KG

The Duke of Grafton, KG. Hugh Denis Charles Fitzroy died peacefully at Euston aged 92 on Thursday 7th April 2011. Beloved husband of Fortune and devoted father of James, Henrietta, Virginia, Charles and Rose. Much loved grandfather and great-grandfather.

Two Combe cousins married Marquesses. Romaine was wife of the 8th
Marquess of Londonderry, and Gladys married the 6th Marquess of
Donegall.

James Nason is the younger son of Colonel and Mrs Ian Nason, of Boad
Chalke, Wilts.

The 15th Duke of Hamilton & 12th Duke of Brandon died on June 5, 2010. He was 71.

The duke was Premier Peer of Scotland & Hereditary Keeper of the Palace of Holyrood House. He bore the Crown of Scotland before the Queen at the opening of the first Scottish Parliament in 1999.

Angus Alan Douglas Douglas-Hamilton was born September 13, 1938, eldest son of the 14th duke by his wife the former Lady Elizabeth Ivy Percy, daughter of the 8th Duke of Northumberland, of Alnwick Castle.

The Old Etonian duke served as Flight Lt (RAF), and was buried in his uniform; he was a test pilot with Scottish Aviation, and member of The Queen's Body Guard for Scotland (Royal Company of Archers).

He married firstly in 1972 (div 1987) Sarah Jane (died 1994), dau of Sir Walter Scott, 4th Baronet; married secondly, 1988, Jillian (nee Robertson), former wife of (i) Martin Page and (ii) Edward Hulton, son of Sir Edward Hulton; and married thirdly, 1998, Kay Carmichael, who survives him, together with his children from his 1st marriage. His elder son, Alexander Douglas, Marquess of Douglas & Clydesdale, who was born March 31, 1978, now succeeds to his father's honours.

Death of Lady Susan Askew, sister of the 6th Duke of Sutherland

_.The Lady Susan Alice Askew, who died 29 April, 2010, was a scion of the Earls of Ellesmere, and a sister of the late 6th Duke of Sutherland. She was born in 1913, as Lady Susan Egerton, 4th daughter of the 4th Earl of Ellesmere (1872-1944), by his wife the former Lady Violet Lambton (1880-1976), daughter of the 4th Earl of Durham; her only brother, John (1915-2000), succeeded as 5th Earl of Ellesmere in 1944, and as 6th Duke of Sutherland on the demise of his kinsman, in 1963. Two sisters, Mary and Jane married Scropes; another two sisters, Margaret and Alice, were members of the Royal Household. Lady Margaret was a Lady-in-Waiting to the Queen and later to the Queen Mother, and wife of Sir Jock Colville (scion of Colville of Culross), and Lady Alice, was a Woman of the Bedchamber to the Queen, who committed suicide in 1977. Lady Susan married, 4 Oct 1933 (div. 1966) Maj John Marjoribanks Askew CBE, only son of William Haggerston Askew, of Ladykirk, co. Berwick, and has issue, a son Henry, and a dau, Sarah, who married 1959, the 3rd Baron Faringdon.

7th Marquess Townshend (1916-2010)

_The 7th Marquess Townshend, who died on St George's Day 2010, aged 93, had been a peer for 88 years, having inherited the peerage in 1921.

George John Patrick Dominic [Townshend], 7th Marquess Townshend, was born 13 May, 1916, son of the 6th Marquess (1866-1921), by his wife, the former Gwladys Ethel Gwendolen Eugénie Sutherst, d. 10 Oct 1959), 1st dau. of Thomas Sutherst, of Fountains Court, Temple, London.

Succeeded his father, 17 Nov 1921, aged 5.

He married firstly, 2 Sep 1939 (div. 1960) Elizabeth Pamela Audrey Luby (mar. (2) 1960 Brig Sir James Gault KCMG; d. 1989), only dau. of Lt Col Thomas Luby, Judicial Commissioner, ICS, by whom he had issue; married 2ndly, 22 Dec 1960, Ann Frances Darlow (d. 1988), only dau. of Arthur Pellew Darlow, of Portugal, by whom he had further issue, and married 3rdly, 7 May 2004 Philippa Sophia Swire (b. 28 Apr 1935; widow of Humphrey Roger Swire, of Dean Manor, Charlbury, co. Oxford, only son of Lt Col Cyril George William Swire, of Coldicote Farm, Moreton-in-Marsh, co. Gloucester), only dau. of Lt Col George Jardine Kidston later Kidston-Montgomerie of Southannan DSO MC, of Longbottom, Biddesden, co. Hampshire, and Fairlie, co. Sir Michael Aykroyd, 4th Baronet, died suddenly, 21 March 2010. Family Funeral has taken place on 30th March. Sir Michael was the eldest son of Col George Hammond AYKROYD TD (1900-72, yst son of the 1st Bt) and his 1st cousin and wife Margaret Roberts (d 1981) dau of Sir Frederic Alfred AYKROYD 1st Bt, of Birstwith Hall (cr
UK 1929) He succ his cousin the 3rd Bt in 2007. He m 1952 Oenone Gillian Diana dau of Donald George COWLING MBE, of Leeds and had a son and two daus. His son succeeds him.

Twins for Grey of Codnor heir

_Annie Helen Cornwall-Legh (nee Riches), wife of the Hon. Richard
Stephen Cayley Cornwall-Legh (b. 24 March, 1976), gave birth to twins,
a son, Arthur Henry, and a daughter, Helena Savannah, 15 March, 2010.

Richard is the eldest son of the 6th Baron Grey of Codnor and Baroness
Grey of Codnor, of High Legh, Cheshire, and Annie is the third
daughter of Mr and Mrs Frederick Riches, of Banbury, Oxfordshire.
Richard's father is only the 6th Baron Grey of Codnor even though the
peerage of England was created in 1397. The title was abeyant between
1496 and 1989.
