Chenery / Brooks engagement

_The engagement was announced 31 Jan 2012 between Capt Max P. Chenery, son of Mr & Mrs Paul Chenery, of Brooke, Rutland, & the Hon Katharine Brooks (b 1978), 4th daughter of the 5th Baron Crawshaw (b 1934), of Whatton, Leicestershire, by his wife the former Belinda Mary Burgess.

Hon David Peter Brougham (1940-2012)

_The Hon David Peter Brougham, who died 23 January, 2012, aged 71, was a younger son of the 4th Baron Brougham & Vaux (1909-1967), by his 2nd wife the former Jean Follett (d 1992). Mr Brougham was twice wed and leaves a widow, Caroline (nee Tomkin, descended from the Bunbury Baronets), and leaves a son from each of his marriages, Henry & Oliver.

Robert Hugh Lindley (Robin) Egerton (1931-2012)

Robert Hugh Lindley Egerton, scion of the Egerton landed family of Mountfield Court, formerly of Tatton Park, died 19 January, 2012. He was 80. Robin Egerton was born 26 Sept, 1931, son of Maj Guy William Egerton (1892-1965) by his wife the former Emma Marie Lindley; married 1964, Claire Prideaux-Brune (b 1937), scion of that landed family, dau of Lancelot Grant Prideaux-Brune, by his wife the former Constance Tetley, by whom he had issue, Joanna, Guy, David & Alexander.

Sir Rupert Charles Gerald Shuckburgh, 13th Baronet (1949-2012)

_Sir Rupert Shuckburgh, 13th Baronet, died 24 January, 2012. He was 62. Rupert Charles Gerald Shuckburgh was born 12 Feb, 1949, and succeeded his father, Maj Sir Charles Shuckburgh, 12th Bart, in 1988. The English Baronetcy was awarded in 1660, by Charles II, to Sir Rupert's ancestor, a loyal supporter of King Charles I. The 13th Baronet was twice married, and is succeeded by the elder son from his first marriage, James Rupert Charles, born 4 January, 1978.

Death of Araminta, Baroness Aldington, aged 91

_Araminta, Baroness Aldington, who died 26 January, 2012, aged 91, was the widow of Toby Austin Richard William Low, 1st Baron Aldington (1914-2000). 

She was the former Felicité Ann Araminta MacMichael, daughter of Sir Harold MacMichael, GCMG, and married Toby Low in 1947. They had three children. Her husband was awarded a hereditary peerage in 1962, followed by a life peerage in 1999. He died 7 Dec, 2000. 

Lady Aldington's son, Charles, is 2nd Baron.

Death of Lord Somerleyton, GCVO, former Master of the Horse

The 3rd Baron Somerleyton, GCVO, a former senior member of the Royal Household, who served as Master of the Horse, died 24 January, 2012. He was 83. Lord Somerleyton was appointed a Lord-in-Waiting to the Queen in 1979, and from 1991 to 1999 was Master of the Horse. He was appointed GCVO in 1998.

He was born Savile William Francis Crossley, 17 Sept, 1928, son of the 2nd Baron by his wife the former Bridget Hoare; and succeeded to the peerage (Baron UK, 1916) on his father's death, 15 July, 1959.

He married in 1963, Belinda Maris Loyd, dau of Capt Vivian Loyd, of Ascot, by whom he had a son, and 4 daughters. The son, Hugh Francis Savile Crossley, born 27 Sept, 1971, inherits the peerage.

Angela Mary Culme-Seymour (1912-2012)

_Angela Mary Culme-Seymour, who died 22 January, 2012, aged 99, was the former wife of Sir Winston Churchill's nephew, John George Spencer Churchill, and a scion of the Culme-Seymour Baronets (cr UK 1809). She was born 3 Aug 1912, the daughter of Capt George Culme-Seymour (1878-1915), by his wife the former Janet Beatrix Orr Ewing, scion of that family of Baronets; she married 1stly 1934 (div 1938) John George Spencer Churchill (d 1992), scion of the Dukes of Marlborough; married 2ndly, 1938 (div 1942) the 3rd Baron Kinross; married 3rdly, 1948, Comte  René Guillet de Chatellus; married 4thly, Ali Bulent Rauf. She leaves issue. a dau, Sarah (Sally) from her 1st marriage, and sons, Mark & Johnnie.

Isla Clementine Gladstone

Evelyn L. Gladstone (nee Milligan), wife of John B. Gladstone, scion of the Gladstone of Capenoch landed family, gave birth to a daughter, Isla Clementine, 19 January, 2012. John is a son of Mr and Mrs Robert Gladstone, of Capenoch, Dumfriesshire, and Evelyn is a daughter of Mr and Mrs Iain Milligan, of Dunesslin, Dumfriesshire.

Nicholas Ranald Innes of Edingight

_.Jekaterina Innes of Edingight, wife of John Berowald Innes, younger of Edingight (b. 1965), gave birth to a son, Nicholas Ranald, in Tallinn, 6 January, 2012, a brother for Anna-Nicole, and Alexander, who was b at Tallinn, 22July, 2006. John Innes is a scion of the Innes Baronets (cr. 1628), and is the eldest son of Sir Malcolm Rognvald Innes of Edingight, , KCVO, FSA (b. 1938), sometime Lord Lyon King of Arms and Secretary to the Order of the Thistle, by his wife the former Anne Hay.

_.James Newman Gilbey, scion of the Gilbey Baronets (cr 1893), died at his home in Somerset, 18 January, 2012. He was 90. He was b 10 Sept 1921, a son of Capt Francis Newman Gilbey, OBE, by his wife Mary Jump; educ at Ampleforth; married 1949, Celia Sparrow, by whom he had issue.

Death of Dowager Baroness Hampton

.The Dowager Baroness Hampton, widow of the 6th Baron, died 17 January, 2012. She was Jane Elizabeth Farquharson Arnott, dau. of Dr Thomas Frank Arnott OBE, of Moorlands, Bovey Tracy, co. Devon, and married  Richard Humphrey Russell Pakington in 1958. He succeeded his brother in the family honours in 1962 and died 9 July, 2003. Lady Hampton is survived by a son, John, the 7th Baron, and by two daughters.

Clementine Patience Priscilla Slade (nee Sheffield, b 11 Oct 1976), wife of Dominic Slade, gave birth to a daughter, Tatiana Virginia Marion, in London, 16 January, 2012/ Dominic is a son of Mr and Mrs Roger Haviland Slade, of Devon, and Clementine is a posthumous daughter of the late Mr John Mulgrave Sheffield (d 6 Sept, 1977), by his wife the former Virginia Ann Katherine (Ginny) Mitchell, elder daughter of Anthony Philip Mitchell (1919-2000) by his 1st wife Priscilla Mary Boldero. Ginny Mitchell married John Sheffield in 1974. Mrs Sheffield married 2ndly, William James Conyers (Bill) Scrope (b. 1938 ) third son of Lt Col Adrian Scrope, of that landed family and descended from the Sykes of Sledmere Baronets, &c. -=-

Death of Lady Faulkner, widow of Northern Ireland Prime Minister, Brian Faulkner

Lucy, Lady Faulkner of Downpatrick, widow of the late Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, Brian Faulkner, died 20 January, 2012. She was the former Lucy Barbara Ethel Forsythe, daughter of William Forsythe, and married Brian Faulkner in 1951. Her husband was Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, 1971-72, and created a life peer in 199 just a month before his demise, 3 March, 1977, aged 56. She leaves issue. -==-

Poppy Keswick is a granddaughter paternally of Sir William Keswick, and a granddaughter maternally of Maj.
