Lady Carmichael-Anstruther

Lady Carmichael-Anstruther, who died 24 April, 2006, aged 86, was the 2nd wife, and widow of Sir Windham Eric Francis Carmichael-Anstruther of Carmichael, 11th & 8th Baronet (creations 1694 & 1798) (1900-80), Hereditary Carver to the Sovereign & one of the Masters of the Royal Household in Scotland. She was the former Joanne Coates, and married in 1948. Her husband died in 1980. The funeral service is at Warriston Crematorium, Cloister Chapel, Edinburgh, 29 April,2006.

Lilia Violet Møller

Victoria Emily Møller (b. 1975, nee Nutting), wife of Mikkel B. Møller, gave birth to a daughter, Lilia Violet, at Copenhagen, 15 April, 2006.
Mikkel is the younger son of Mr Torben Møller and Mrs Mette Bysted Jepperson, of Kolding, Denmark, and Victoria is a daughter of Sir John Grenfell Nutting, 4th Baronet, of Chicheley Hall, Buckinghamshire, by his wife Diane, daughter of John Rutherford Blundell (& adopted daughter of Capt Duncan Kirk), and widow of the 2nd Earl Beatty.

Toby Baring is a grandson of Francis Anthony Baring (b.1909; killed in action 1940), by his wife the Lady Rose Gwendolen Louisa McDonnell, DCVO (d. 1993), sometime Lady-in-Waiting to Queen Elizabeth II, daughter of the 7th Earl of Antrim. The bride-to-be is the only daughter of Mr Charles Granville Stuart-Menteth, (b. 1928), and the former Priscilla Helen Newman, and is a granddaughter of the late Sir William Frederick Stuart-Menteth, 5th Baronet; a great-niece of Sir Ralph Alured Newman, 5th Baronet; and a great-granddaughter of Sir Charles Alban Young, 9th Baronet, KCMG, MVO.

Mary Straker (nee Boyle), wife of Simon Straker, gave birth to a daughter, Flora Emily Helen, 18 April, 2006, a sister for Rosie Phyllis Mary, who was b. 8 November, 2004.
Mr Simon C. Straker, is the son of Mr & Mrs Derek Straker, of Dupplin, Perthshire, and Mrs Straker is the former Mary Helen Fennella Boyle, [b. 1974], second daughter of Mr Simon Hugh Patrick Boyle, [b. 1941], of Abergavenny, Gwent, scion of the Earls of Glasgow, by his wife, the former Catriona Gordon.

Commander Michael Louis Woollcombe, OBE (1962), of Fochabers, Morayshire, who died 19 April, 2006, was a scion of the BLG family of Woollcombe of Ashbury. He was b. 4 May 1920, 2nd son of Admiral Louis Charles Woollcombe, CB, MVO (1872-1951), by his wife the former Constance Perry Circuitt; he married 15 July, 1944, Nancy, daughter of Vice-Admiral Sir Frederick Turner, KCB, OBE, by whom he had issue. The funeral is at Moray Crematorium, Thurs. 27 Apr, 2006.

Baroness Carbery

The Baroness Carbery, wife of the 11th Baron, died 19 April, 2006. She was aged 87. She was born Joyzelle Mary Binnie, the only daughter of Herbert Binnie, of Sydney, Australia, and married the then Peter Ralfe Evans-Freke in 1941, who succeeded to the peerage (Ireland 1715)and baronetcy (Ireland 1768), on the death of his uncle in 1970. She is survived by her husband and five children. A Requiem Mass takes place at the Sacred Heart Church, Edge Hill, Wimbledon, 4 May, 2006.

Prince Hussain Aga Khan to marry

The engagement was announced 24 April, 2006, between Prince Hussain Aga Khan (b. 1974), second son of His Highness the Aga Khan (b. 1936) by his first wife, the former Sarah Frances Croker Poole, & Kristin J. White (b. 1976), of the United States. The marriage will take place in the autumn of 2006, the office of the Aga Khan has announced. Miss White has meanwhile converted to Islam and is now known as "Chalija". The couple had met during their studies at the Columbia University. The Aga Khan is a son of the late Aly Khan, by his wife the former Hon. Joan Frances Yarde-Buller (1908-97), daughter of the 3rd Baron Churston, MVO, OBE (1873-1930), by his wife Jessie (afterwards Duchess of Leinster, 3rd wife of the 7th Duke), daughter of Alfred Smither.

Duke of York & Earl of Wessex appointed to the Order of the Garter....

The Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex have been made Royal Knights of the Garter by the Queen.
Princes Andrew and Edward were both appointed to the most senior British order of chivalry on St George's Day amid a weekend of celebrations to mark the Queen's 80th birthday.
It recognises their seniority within the Royal Family.
The Order of the Garter, established by Edward III in 1348, is in the Queen's personal gift, without advice from government ministers.
Knights of the Garter are chosen to honour those who have held public office, who have contributed to national life or who have served the Sovereign personally.
The Duke and the Earl, the Queen's middle and youngest sons, are now Royal Knight Companions.
Their appointments are additional to the established number of 24 Knight Companions.
The two royals now join their father the Duke of Edinburgh, brother the Prince of Wales and sister Princess Royal in the Order.
Philip was created a Royal Knight in 1947 - the year he married Princess Elizabeth.
Charles became a Knight in 1958 on his creation as Prince of Wales, the Duke of Kent in 1985, Anne in 1994, the Duke of Gloucester in 1997 and Princess Alexandra in 2003. The non-royal members of the Order include former Prime Ministers Baroness Thatcher and Sir John Major.
