The Hon. Lord Robertson, TD, a Senator of the College of Justice in Scotland, 1966-87, died 21 July, 2005. He was aged 92. Ian Macdonald Robertson was born 30 Oct, 1912, son of James Robertson and Margaret Eva Wilson, of Broughty Ferry, Angus, and Edinburgh, and was educated at Merchiston Castle School; Balliol College, Oxford; Cambridge University. Career: - - ->>served in WW2, 8th Battalion, The Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment); commissioned into the army in 1939; Captain, 44th Lowland Brigade (15th Scottish Division), in Normandy and NW Europe, and was mentioned in despatches; Member of the Faculty of Advocates, 1939; Advocate-Depute, 1949-51; QC Scotland, 1954; Sheriff of Ayr & Bute, 1961-66; Sheriff of Perth & Angus, 1966; Chairman, Medical Appeals Tribunal, 1957-63; Chairman, Scottish Joint Council of Teachers' Salaries, 1965-81; Chairman, Scottish Valuation Advisory Council, 1977-86; Member, Court of Session Rules Council; UK Representative, Central Council, International Union of Judges, 1974-87; Governor of Merchiston Castle School, 1954, Chairman 1970-96; Assessor on Court of Edinburgh University, 1967-81; Chairman, Edinburgh Centre of Rural Economy, 1967-85, &c. He married in 1938, Anna Love Glen (who died in 2002), daughter of Judge James Fulton Glen, of Tampa, Florida, United States; by whom he had one son and 2 daughters. A Service of Thanksgiving took place at Canongate Kirk, Edinburgh, Saturday 30 July, 2005.
