Sir Frederic Bolton, Kt, MC, Chairman The Bolton Group, 1953-91; Chairman, Dover Harbour Board, 1982-88 (Member, 1957-62 & 1980-88),died 27 July, 2005. He was aged 84. Frederic Bernard (Tim) Bolton was born 9 March, 1921, the son of Louis Hamilton Bolton by his wife Beryl Dyer, and was educated at Rugby School. Career: - - ->>served in World War 2 with the Welsh Guards 1940-46 (awarded the MC in Italy in 1945); Northants Yeomanry, 1950-56; Membe of Lloyd's from 1945; Member of the Baltic Exchange from 1946; Chairman, Atlantic Steam Navigation Co and Subs, 1960-71; Director, BP Tanker Co,1968-82; Member, British Rail Shipping & International Services Board, 1970-82 (later Sealink UK Ltd); President, Chamber of Shipping of the UK, 1966; Member of Lloyd's Register of Shipping General Committee, 1961-86; Chairman, Ship and Marine Technol. Requirements Board, 1977-81; Chairman, British Ports Associaion, 1985-88; Chairman, Pilots' National Pensions Fund, 1991-94; Member, PLA, 1964-71; Member, national Ports Council, 1967-74; President, Institute of Marine Engineers, 1968-69 and 1969-70; President, British Shipping Federation, 1972-75; President, International Shipping Federation, 1973-82; President, General Council of British Shipping, 1975-76; President, British Marine League, 1985-91; &c. He was knighted in 1976. Sir Frederic married 1stly, 1950, Valerie Margaret Barwick, daughter of George Short Barwick, and granddaughter of Sir John Storey Barwick, 1st Baronet, by whom he had 2 sons. Mrs Bolton died in 1970; married secondly 1971, Vanessa Mary Anne Robarts, by whom he had 2 sons and 2 daughters.
