Guy Pelly bereaved

_. John Gurney Pelly, who died 20 November, 2015, was a scion of the Pelly baronets (Baronet, UK, cr 1840).

Mr Pelly was the father of Guy Pelly, close friend of the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry.

He was born 1938 a son of the late Douglas Gurney Pelly by his wife the former Monica Tate, a scion of the Tate baronets, and married in 1973, Vanda Joan Allfrey, a scion of the Allfrey baronets, by whom he had issue, Sam, James and Guy.

A Memorial Service will take place at St Michael's Church, Mere, Wilts, 16 Dec, 2015, at 12 noon.

Sir John Henry Kilian Brunner, 4th Baronet

 Sir John Henry Kilian Brunner, 4th Baronet, died in Melbourne, Australia, 18 November, 2015. He was 88.

He was born 1 June, 1927, son of Sir Felix Brunner, 3rd Baronet, by his wife Dorothy Elizabeth OBE, daughter of Henry Brodribb Irving, and succeeded his father in the baronetcy (cr 1895) in 1982.

Sir John was a cousin of HRH The Duchess of Kent.

He married in 1955, Jasmine Cicely Wardrop Moore (b 1929), daughter of John Wardrop Moore (1894-1965) by his wife the former Janet Monteith Erskine, scion of the Erskine baronets (cr 1821).

The baronetcy now passes to his son, Nicholas Felix Minturn Brunner, who was born 16 January, 1960.

Lavinia Marchioness of Cholmondeley dies aged 94

Lavinia Margaret, Marchioness of Cholmondeley, mother of the hereditary Lord Great Chamberlain the Marquess of Cholmondeley, died 7 November, 2015. She was 94.

 

The Marchioness of Cholmondeley was the widow of Maj the 6th Marquess (Marquess UK, cr 1815), of Cholmondeley Castle, Malpas, Cheshire and Houghton Hall, near King's Lynn, Norfolk, who died in 1990.

 

She was the former Lavinia Margaret Leslie, daughter of Lt-Col John Leslie, DSO, MC (1888-1965) by his wife the former Margaret [Margot] Nanette Helen Gilliat (1891-1973), descended from the Skipwith baronets, and she married the future 6th Marquess of Cholmondeley in 1947.  She leaves three daughters, Lady Rose, Lady Margot and Lady Caroline, and one son, David, 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, Joint Hereditary Lord Great Chamberlain of England (acting for the reign of Queen Elizabeth II).

_. Katherine Floyd (nee Gaillard), wife of Henry James Floyd (b 1979), scion of the Floyd baronets (baronet, UK, cr 1816), gave birth to a son, Oliver Charles, in Melbourne, 17 October, 2015, a brother for Amelia Rose (b 23 Oct, 2009) and for  Martha Elizabeth (b 23 Sept, 2011).


Henry James (Harry) Floyd is the son of Thomas Henry Floyd (b 1951), of Shalden, Hampshire, by his wife the former (Penelope) Sarah Cleminson, dau of Sir James Cleminson, MC, DL.


Katherine Floyd is a daughter of Mr & Mrs Michael de L. Gaillard, of Martin, Hampshire.

The marriage took place 24 October, 2015, in Bath, between Mr Martin Redwood and Miss Melanie Cable-Alexander, scion of the Cable-Alexander baronets (Bart, cr 1809, of the City of Dublin), daughter of Lt--Col Sir Patrick Cable-Alexander, 8th Baronet (b 19 Apr, 1936), by his first wife the former Diana Frances Rogers.

Melanie Cable-Alexander is a former love of the 1st Earl of Snowdon, GCVO, and is the mother of his son, Jasper.

Michael Alexander Robert Naylor-Leyland 1956-2015

Michael Alexander Robert Naylor-Leyland, who died 16 Oct, 2015, aged 59, was a scion of the Naylor-Leyland baronets, who married a great-niece of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.


He was born 14 July, 1956, son of Maj (Alick) David Yorke Naylor-Leyland, MVO (1929-91), by his first wife Diana (afterwards Countess of Wilton); married firstly, 1984 (div) Lucy Potts; married 2ndly (div), Princess Tania Saskia Viktoria Luise of Hanover (b 1970), great-niece of Prince Philip, daughter of the late Prince Welf of Hannover  (1947-81) by his wife, Wibke; married 3rdly, Anna-Louise _____; he is survived by his third wife and by two sons from his marriage to Princess Tania, Jake (b 1993), and Gabriel (b 1996).


The funeral is at St Michael's, Chester Sq, London SW1, on 5 Nov, 2015.

The Earl of Mansfield & Mansfield 1930-2015

_. The 8th (and 9th) Earl of Mansfield & Mansfield, a government minister in the Thatcher Administration, of Scone Palace, Perthshire, died 21 October, 2015, at Logie House, Logiealmond, Perthshire. He was 85.

William David Mungo James Murray, JP, DL, was born 7 July, 1930, the only son of the 7th Earl of Mansfield & Mansfield, by his wife Dorothea Helena (d 1985), daughter of the Rt Hon Sir Lancelot Carnegie, GCVO, KCMG (scion of the Earls of Southesk); succeeded to the family honours on his father's death in 1971.

He was the 8th & 9th Earls (cr 1776 & 1792); Baron Scone (cr 1605); Viscount Stormont (cr 1621); Baron Balvaird (cr 1641) (Earl of Dunbar, Viscount Drumcairn & Baron Halldykes in the Jacobite peerage); Hereditary Keeper of Bruce's Castle of Lochmaben; was First Crown Estates Commissioner, 1985-95; Opposition Spokesman in the House of Lords 1975-79; minister of State, Scottish Office, 1979-83; Minister of State, Northern Ireland Office, 1983-4; numerous public appointments, &c.

Married 1955, Pamela Joan, daughter of W.N. Foster, CBE, by whom he had 2 sons and one daughter. He is succeeded in the peerages by his elder son, Alexander David Mungo Murray, styled Viscount Stormont, who was born 17 October, 1956. Lord Stormont is married and has issue including William Philip David Mungo Murray, styled Master of Stormont, b 1 Nov, 1988.

Funeral and Memorial Service to be held at St John's Kirk of Perth, 30 Oct, 2015, and afterwards at Scone Palace.

Thomas Edward Froggatt 1991-2015

Thomas Edward Froggatt, who died 12 October, 2015, aged 23, was descended from the Stanley landed family seated at Ponsonby & Dalegarth, near Egremont, Cumbria.

He was born at Harrogate, 28 Oct, 1991, the only son of Nicholas Keith Froggatt {b 11 Jan 1963), by his wife the former Maggie Tang {b 21 May 1962}, & was a gt-grandson of Elizabeth Norah Stanley (b 1909-  ) who descended from the Earls of Galloway and from King Henry VII.

Thomas is survived by his parents and sister, Lucy Amelia (b 1993).

The funeral is at St Bee's Priory Church, Cumbria, 28 Oct, 2015.

Lady Katherine Felicity Watney 1940-2015

The Lady Katherine Felicity Watney (nee Courtenay) scion of the earls of Devon (earl perrage of England cr 1553) died 10 Oct 2015. She was a daughter of the 17th Earl, sister of the 18th Earl (who died earlier this year) & aunt of the 19th Earl. She married 1966 Antony Stephen Pope Watney, who died in 1986. She leaves a son, Michael. Funeral at St Clement's Church, Powderham, Devon, 21 Oct.

. Elizabeth Caroline Hay [born 1983, nee Acland], wife of Timothy George Nicholas Hay (born 1980), gave birth to a son, Arthur Cuthbert Philip, 21 September, 2015.

Timothy Hay is the son of Andrew Nicholas John Hay (b 10 Oct, 1951), of Fulham, London, by his wife the former Virginia Jane Coats (b 27 Aug, 1954) (see Coats Baronetcy & Barony of Glentanar).

Elizabeth Hay [scion of the Acland Baronets, cr 1890], is a daughter of Peter John Acland (b 1954), of Berryville, Virginia, and Mrs Amanda Acland (nee Ryrie), of Gittisham, Devon. 

Timothy Hay is a grandson paternally of the late Sir (Alan) Philip Hay, KCVO, by his wife the former Lady Margaret Katharine Seymour, Woman of the Bedchamber to HM The Queen, scion of the Marquesses of Hertford (Peerage, GB, cr 1795), sister of the 8th Marquess, &c. 

The bride~to~be is a granddaughter of Maj-Gen Sir John Hugh Bevil Acland, KCB, CBE (1928-2006).

The 6th Earl of Morley, KCVO 1923-2015

_. The 6th Earl of Morley, KCVO [Peerage of the UK, cr 1815],a former Lord Lieutenant for the county of Devon, died 20 September, 2015. He was 92.

John St Aubyn Parker was born 29 May, 1923, son of the Hon John Holford Parker 1886-1955] by his wife the former Hon Marjory Katharine Elizabeth Alexandra St Aubyn, a dau of the 2nd Baron St Levan, and was a grandson of the 3rd Earl of Morley [1843-1905]; succeeded to the family honours upon the death of his uncle, the 5th Earl, 28 Apr, 1962; married 15 Oct 1955, Johanna Katherine, elder dau of Sir John Molesworth St Aubyn, 14th Baronet, by whom he had issue, a son and a daughter.

The peerage devolves upon his only son, Mark Lionel Parker, styled Viscount Boringdon, who was born 22 Aug 1956.
