_.Charles Spencer Denman, 5th Baron Denman, CBE, MC, died 21 November, 2012, aged 96. He was b 7 Jul 1916, son of Sir Richard Denman, 1st Baronet (a descendant of the 1st Baron), by his 1st wife the former Helen Christian Sutherland; succeeded his father in the baronetcy (cr UK, 1945), 22 Dec, 1957, and his cousin in the peerage (cr UK, 1834), 21 Mar 1971; married in 1943, Sheila Ann Stewart (d 1987), by whom he had issue, three sons and one daughter. MC (1942), CBE (1976). He is succeeded in the peerage and baronetcy by his eldest son, the Hon Richard Thomas Stewart Denman, who was b 4 Oct 1946.

Sir William James Denby Roberts, 3rd Baronet, who died 23 November, 2012, aged 76, was formerly of Combwell Prioty, Kent, and Strathallan Castle, Perthshire. He was born in 1936, son of Sir James Denby Roberts, 2nd Bt, OBE, whom he succeeded in 1973. The baronetcy was created in 1909 (UK).

Sonia Isabel Jane Hunter of Hunterston, widow of clan chief

_.Sonia Isabel Jane Hunter of Hunterston, who died in Paris, 20 November, 2012, aged 82, was the widow of Neil Aylmer Hunter, 29th of Hunterston (1926-1994). She was the former Sonia Furlong and married in 1952. Her husband, born Neil Kennedy-Cochran-Patrick, scion of that Scottish landed family, succeeded as head of the family on the death of his aunt, Eleanora, the 28th of Hunterston (nee Kennedy-Cochran-Patrick), who died in 1984. 

Sonia's husband assumed the surname of Hunter of Hunterston and was recognised in the surname and arms of Hunter of Hunterston by Lord Lyon King of Arms in 1969.

She leaves six sons, Charles, Robert, Nigel, John, Angus and Richard and one daughter, Pauline, Madam Pauline Hunter of Hunterston of that Ilk, 30th Laird, who was recognised as Chief of the Clan Hunter and 30th Laird in 1995.

She was born 10 Sept, 1940, daughter of the 3rd Marquess of Zetland (1908-89), of Aske, North Yorkshire, by his wife the former (Katherine Mary) Penelope Pike (1914-2003), and was a granddaughter of the 2nd Marquess,KG (1876-1961), sometime Secretary of State for Burma and for India, and Lord Lieutenant for the North Riding of Yorkshire.

She married 15 Aug, 1964, Capt Nigel Ion Charles Kettlewell, RN, son of Cdr Charles Kettlewell, RNR, by whom she had issue, a son, Robert, and two daughters, Melissa and Charlotte.

_.The Earl Ferrers, a former Conservative government minister, died 13 November, 2012. He was 83. 
Robert Washington Shirley was born 8 June, 1929, son of the 12th Earl, by his wife the former Hermione Morley. 

Lord Ferrers was the 13th Earl (Peerage of GB, cr 1711); Viscount Tamworth (Peerage of GB, cr 1711), and was one of the senior most baronet's (Bart, England, 1611). 

Hw was a Lord in Waiting (Government Whip) in the administrations of Harold Macmillan and Sir Alec Douglas-Home, 1962-4; 1974-74; Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Foods 1974; Joint Deputy Leader of the Opposition, House of Lords 1976-79; High Steward, Norwich Cathedral, since 1979; Minister of State, Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Food 1979-83; Deputy Leader, House of Lords 1979-83 and 1988-97; Privy Councillor 1982; Deputy Lieutenant, Norfolk 1983; Minister of State, Home Office 1988-94, Department of Trade and Industry 1994-95 and Department of the Environment 1995-97; Sub-Warden, Winchester College, since 1998; elected to the House of Lords 1999; Grand Prior of England, Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem/ 

He succeeded to the family honours on his father's death, 11 Oct, 1954; married 1951, Annabel Mary Carr, by whom he had issue, 2 sons and three daughters. The peerages and baronetcy devolve upon his Lordship's elder son, Robert William Saswalo Shirley, styled Viscount Tamworth, who was b 29 Dec, 1952.

Bishop Justin Welby's descent from royal bastard

__.Bishop Justin Welby, the Old Etonian Bishop of Durham, who is expected to be named as Archbishop of Canterbury, has a distinguished lineage which includes Marshal of the RAF Charles Portal, 1st Viscount Portal of Hungerford, who was chief of the Air Staff though most of the Second World War, and he counts the Stuart kings among his ancestors.

Welby (b 6 Jan 1956), is eleven generations in descent from the Merrie Monarch King Charles II and his French mistress Louise Renee de Penancoet de Keroualle, via their son Charles Lennox, who was created Duke of Richmond. HRH The Duchess of Cornwall is also a Lennox descendant and thus a kinswoman of the primate-to-be.

The bishop's royal genes have been passed down from Welby's mother, Jane, Lady Williams of Elvel. Another collateral is the 18th century statesman Charles James Fox.

_.The 3rd Baron Fisher, DSC died 31 October, 2012. He was 91. John Vavassour Fisher was born 24 July, 1921, son of the 2nd Baron by his wife the former Jane Morgan (who d 28 Jan 1955). Succeeded to the peerage (Baron UK, cr 1909), on his father's demise, 11 May, 1955. Married twice, firstly, 1949 (div 1969), Elizabeth Anne Penelope Holt; married 2ndly, 1970, the Hon Rosamund Anne Fairburn (nee Clifford), dau of the 12th Baron Clifford of Chudleigh. He is succeeded by the eldest son of his 1st marriage, the Hon Patrtick Vavassur Fisher (b 14 June, 1953).
