Ann Countess of Yarborough

_.Anne Countess of Yarborough, who died 24 June, 2013, aged 89, was the widow of the 7th Earl of Yarborough (1920-91), of Brocklesby Park, Harborough, Lincolnshire. She was the former Florence Ann Petronel Upton, born 24 January, 1924, daughter of John Herbert Upton (Upton-Cottrell-Dormer, of that landed family of Ingmire Hall, Yorks, and Lew House, Oxon), and married 1stly, Charles John Riddell Duffin, lieut Scots Guards; married 2ndly, 1957, Maj John Edward Pelham, styled Lord Worsley, who succeeded his father as 7th Earl of Yarborough (Earl UK 1837) 2 Dec, 1966. The 7th Earl, Maj. Grenadier Guards and High Sheriff of Lincolnshire (1964), died 21 March, 1991, aged 70. The Dowager Countess leaves issue, a son, Charles John, 8th Earl (b 5 Nov, 1963), and daughters, Lady Sophia, Lady Arabella and Lady Vanessa. The funeral is at All Saints' Church, Brocklesby, Lincolnshire, Thurs 4 July. -=-

George Ian Samuel Dalton (b 2013)

. Megan Dalton (nee Mackeson-Sandbach), wife of Stephen, and scion of that landed gentry family, gave birth to a son, George Ian Samuel, 27 May, 2013, a brother for Eleanor and Alice. Megan is a daughter of Ian Lawrie Mackeson-Sandbach (1933-2012), descended from the 2nd Baron Penrhyn, &c. -=-

Capt Owen Buckingham Varney 1931-2013

Capt Owen Buckingham Varney, late Scots Guards, who died 24 June, 2013, aged 82, was a son-in-law of the 14th Earl of Lindsay (Peerage of Scot. cr 1633). He was b in 1931, son of Edwin Thomas Varney, by his wife the former Elsie Buckingham, and married 14 Dec, 1956, Lady Mary Lindesay-Bethune (b 11 Dec 1935-d 2011), by whom he had issue, two sons and one daughter. Funeral & Thanksgiving service at Dedham Parish Church, 8 July. -=-

Hon Norman Dunlop Galloway Galbraith 1925-2013

_. The Hon Norman Dunlop Galloway Galbraith, who died 24 June, 2013, aged 88, was a scion of the Barons Strathclyde (Baron, UK, 1955). He was born 25 January, 1925, fourth son of Thomas Dunlop Galbraith, 1st Baron Strathclyde (1891-1985), by his wife the former Ida Jean Galloway (died 1985); married 1950, Susan Patricia Kent, 1st dau of Cdr Jan Herbert Farquharson Kent, RN, of Jersey, Channel Islands, by whom he had issue. He was uncle of the 2nd Baron Strathclyde, sometime Leader of the House of Lords, &c. The funeral is at Yester Kirk, Gifford, Haddington, East Lothian, Wed 3 July.

Lord Fraser of Carmyllie, PC 1945-2013

_.The Lord Fraser of Carmyllie, a life peer, Lord Advocate of Scotland 1989-92, died 22 June, 2013, aged 68. Peter Lovat Fraser was b 29 May, 1945, a son of the Rev George Robson Fraser. He was Conservative MP for Angus South 1979-83, and Angus East 1983-7, was PPS to the Sec of State for Scotland 1981-82, was Solicitor-General for Scotland, 1982-89, then Lord Advocate and a Minister of State, Scottish Office. Created a life baron in 1989, as Baron Fraser of Carmyllie, of Carmyllie in the District of Angus. He married in 1969, Fiona, dau of Hugh Murray Mair, of Lanark, and had issue. -=-

_.The Hon Mrs Charles Beaumont, who died at her home at Hexham, Northumberland, 17 June, 2013, aged 57, was the wife of the Hon Charles Richard Beaumont (b 1954), scion of the Viscounts Allendale (Visc, UK, cr 1911). She was the former Charlotte Sybil Taylor, descended from the extinct Barons Buckland, daughter of Lt-Col Richard Ian Griffith Taylor, DSO, MC, JP, DL, and married in 1979, the Hon Charles Beaumont, a younger son of the 3rd Viscount Allendale (1922-2002). She is survived by her husband and 2 sons and 1 daughter. A Thanksgiving Service takes place at Hexham Abbey, 24 June. -=-

_. The Earl of Kinnoull, died 7 June, 2013, in Scotland. He was 78. A peer for 75 years, the 15th Earl (Peerage of Scotland, cr 1633), was also Viscount Dupplin (Peerage Scotland, 1627), Lord Hay of Kinfauns (Peerage of Scot, Scotland 1633), & Baron Hay, of Pedwardine (Peerage of GB, 1711). (Arthur) William George Patrick Hay was b 26 May, 1935, son of George Harley Hay, the 14th Earl of Kinnoull (1902-38), by his 2nd wife the former Mary Ethel Isabel Meyrick (d Dec 1938), dau of Dr Ferdinand Richard Holmes Meyrick, and succeeded to the family honours on his father's death, 18 Mar, 1938. He married 1 June, 1961, Gay Anne Lowson, dau of Sir Denys Lowson, 1st Baronet, Lord Mayor of London 1950-51, by whom he had issue, a son and three daughters. The peerages now devolve upon his Lordship's only son, Charles William Harley Hay, styled Viscount Dupplin, who was born 20 Dec, 1962. -=-

Peter a son of the Hon. Gerald Edward Ian Maitland-Carew , and a grandson of the 6th Baron Carew. Posy Maitland-Carew is a daughter of Mr Timothy Hardie, of Barclayhills, Perth, and Mrs Jill Hardie, of St Andrews, Fife.

8th Baron Ellenborough 1926-2013

_.The Lord Ellenborough, who died 7th June, 2013, aged 87, was the 8th Baron in the peerage of the UK (cr 1802). Richard Edward Cecil Law was born 14 Jan 1926, son of Henry Astell Law, 7th Baron (1889-1945), by his wife the former (Helen) Dorothy Lovatt (1901-2002), and succeeded to the peerage on his father's death, 19 May, 1945. He was twice married, firstly, 9 Oct 1953, to Rachel Mary Hedley (who d 1986), and secondly, in 1994, to Mrs Frances Edith Joy Kimberley (nee Yeates). He leaves three sons from his first marriage, and the peerage now devolves upon his eldest son, Maj the Hon Rupert Edward Henry Law, who was born 28 March, 1955. -=-

Sir Henry Cecil 1943-2013

_.Sir Henry Richard Amherst Cecil, the legendary racehorse trainer, who died 11 June, 2013, aged 70, was a scion of the Barons Amherst of Hackney (Baron UK, 1892). He was born posthumously 11 Jan 1943, third son of the Hon Henry Kerr Auchmuty Cecil (1914-1942), by his wife the former Elizabeth Rohays Mary Burnett of Leys (later Lady Boyd-Rochfort, wife of Sir Cecil Boyd-Rochfort) and daughter of Maj-Gen Sir James Burnett of Leys, 13th Baronet, CB, CMG, DSO, &c. Cecil was thrice married, 1stly in 1966, to Julie, daughter of Sir Noel Murless, by whom he had a son and a daughter. The marriage was dissolved in 1990, and he married secondly, in 1992, Nathalie Payne, with whom he had a son. That marriage was dissolved in 2002. In 2008 he married his former secretary, Jane McKeown, sister of the former jockey Richard Guest. -=-
