__. Alison Beatrix Weatherby, who died 7 November, 2017, aged 88, was descended from the Earls Erne.

She was born Alison Beatrix Pease, in 1928, daughter of Philip Ivan Pease by his wife the former Doris Madeline Crichton; married 1954, Christopher Nicholas Weatherby, MC (1920-2004), by whom she had issue. Her daughter, Clare, is the wife of the 4th Baron Daresbury.

__. Colonel Henry Michael Edward Cadogan, OBE, who died 8 November, 2017, aged 82, was a grandson maternally of the 11th Earl of Cavan.

He was the son of Colonel Edward Henry Cadogan (1908-93) by his wife the former Lady Mary Veronica Lambart (1908-89), daughter of the 11th Earl; married 1966, Daphne Jane Richards Mason, by whom he had issue.

Funeral at St Cynfarch and St Mary, Llanfair D.C. at 11 a.m. on Monday 20th November, and a Service of Thanksgiving will be held at the Abbey Church, Beaulieu on Thursday 30th November, 2017.

Alvin Viscountess Goschen (died 2017)

__. Alvin, Viscountess Goschen, died 8 November, 2017. She was the widow of the 3rd Viscount Goschen.

She was born Alvin Moyanna Lesley England, daughter of Harry England, of Durban, Natal, and married the 3rd Viscount Goschen, KBE, as his second wife, in 1955. He died 22 March, 1977.

Her son, Giles, is the 4th Viscount Goschen.

Anna Charlotte Cayzer [nee Coutts Donald, born 1981], wife of the Hon Avon Arthur Cayzer (b 13 Sept 1968), scion of the Barons Rotherwick [Baron, UK, cr 1939], gave birth to a daughter, Alicia Elizabeth Rose, 8 November, 2017, a sister for Arthur, who was born 31 August, 2015.

The Hon Avon Cayzer is the third son of the 2nd Baron Rotherwick [1912-96] by his wife the former Sarah Jane Slade [d 1978], scion of the Slade Baronets.

 

 Anna Cayzer is a daughter of William F.J. Coutts Donald, by his wife the former Priscilla Aldington.

___. Maj. Robert John Grantley Berkeley,head of that landed gentry family of Berkeley Castle, Gloucestershire & Spetchley Park, Worcester, died 2 November, 2017. He was 86.

He was born 24 July, 1931, son of Capt Robert George Wilmot Berkeley (1898-1969), by his wife the Hon Myrtle Emmeline Theresa Dormer (1907-82), scion of the Barons Dormer; succeeded his father, 1969; was High Sheriff of Worcester (1967); married 25 January, 1967, Georgina Bridget Stirling Home Drummond Moray, scion of that landed family, by whom he had two sons, Charles and Henry.

Davina Countess of Stair 1930-2017

__. Davina Countess of Stair, who died 1 November, 2017, aged 87, was a first cousin of Her Majesty The Queen.

She was born Davina Katherine Bowes Lyon, 2 May, 1930, the only daughter of the Hon Sir David Bowes Lyon, KCVO, (1902-1961), the sixth son of the 14th Earl of Strathmore & Kinghorne, KG, KT, GCVO.

Her father, on whose 28th birthday she was born, was perhaps the favourite sibling of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, and the closest in age to Her Majesty.

Davina Bowes Lyon married 14 January, 1960, John Aymer Dalrymple, 13th Earl of Stair, KCVO (1906-96), son of the 12th Earl of Stair (1879-1961) by his wife the former Violet Evelyn Harford.

Lady Stair was widowed 26 Feb, 1996. She leaves three sons, the elder of whom is Jamie, 14th Earl of Stair.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were represented by Davina's brother, Sir Simon Bowes Lyon, KCVO, at the funeral which took place at Inch Church, Castle Kennedy, Stranraer, 15 Nov, 2017.

_. The Lady Rose Margaret Houssemayne du Boulay (b 1982), scion of the Earls Alexander of Tunis, and wife of James Houssemayne du Boulay, of that landed family, gave birth to a son, Wilfred Alexander Leofric, 4 November, 2017.

Lady Rose Houssemayne du Boulay, is a goddaughter of the late Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, and is the elder daughter of the 2nd Earl Alexander of Tunis (b 30 June, 1935), by his second wife, the former Hon Davina Mary Woodhouse, LVO, sometime Lady-in-Waiting to Princess Margaret.

James Houssemayne du Boulay is the son of Mr Robin Houssemayne du Boulay, by his former wife the former Tanya Theresa Judge (now Lady Lowson, wife since 1979 of Sir Ian Lowson, 2nd Baronet).

__. Nancy Vernon-Harcourt, who died at Petersfield, 25 October, 2017, aged 103, was the widow of Colonel William Ronald Denis Vernon-Harcourt, OBE, scion of the Barons Vernon.

She was the former Nancy Everil Leatham, scion of that landed family, the only child of Lieutenant-Col. Bertram Henry Leatham, DSO, late the Green Howards, and married, 29 May, 1937, Col William Vernon-Harcourt, by whom she had a son and a daughter.

A Thanksgiving Service takes place at All Saints, Denmead, 18 Dec, 2017.

Lady Ursula Isabel d'Abo 1916-2017

_. The Lady Ursula d'Abo, who died 2 November, 2017, aged 100, was one of the last surviving aristocrats to participate at the Coronation of King George VI & Queen Elizabeth, in May, 1937.

As the 20 year-old Lady Ursula Manners she acted as one of Queen Elizabeth's trainbearers in Westminster Abbey, and later appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, on May 12 1937.

Ursula Isabel Manners was born 8 November, 1916, the elder daughter of the 9th Duke of Rutland (1886-1940), by his wife the former Kathleen Tennant.

She married firstly, 25 July, 1943 (div1947)Anthony Freire Marreco, RNVR, scion of that landed family, only son of the late Geoffrey Marreco. She resumed her maiden name, and married 2ndly, 22 Nov, 1951, Robert Erland Nicolai d'Abo, scion of that landed family, elder son of Gerard Louis d'Abo, by whom she had issue, two sons and a daughter.

Lady Ursula's brother, Lord Roger Manners, died in recent weeks.

Hon Simon Aubrey Robin Hood Hastings-Bass 1950-2017

__. Hon Simon Hastings-Bass, who died 6 October, 2017, aged 67, was a scion of the Earls of Huntingdon, the younger brother, and heir presumptive of the 16th Earl.

 

He was born 2 May, 1950. second son of Peter Robin Hood Hastings-Bass (1920-64) by his wife the former Priscilla Bullock, scion of the Bullock baronets and descended from the Earls of Derby.

 

His elder brother, William, succeeded to the Earldom (cr 1529) in 1990, and in 1992 Simon was raised to the rank of the younger son of an earl.

 

The heir presumptive to the peerage is now a younger brother, the Hon John Hastings-Bass, who was born 5 June, 1954.
