Philippa Margery Warde-Norbury 1938-2015

_. Philippa Margery Warde-Norbury, who died 10 January, 2015, aged 76, was a scion of the Cooke baronets {Bt, E, 1661, of Wheatley Hall, Yorks}, and was widow of Tony Warde-Norbury, of that landed family, of Hooton Pagnell Hall, &c.

She was born in 1938, dau of Col Philip Ralph Davies-Cooke, of Owston Hall, Yorks, by his wife {and kinswoman} the former Kathleen Mabel Davies-Cooke, OBE (who d 1994), and married 15 April, 1961, Capt. (William George) Antony (Tony) Warde-Norbury (1936-2014), late Coldstream Guards, a scion of the Warde-Aldam landed family of Hooton Pagnell, Healey & Frickley.

Her husband, who died 1 January, 2014, aged 77, was born 13 March, 1936, son of Maj Harold George Norbury, later Warde-Norbury (1899-1974), of  Hooton Pagnell Hall, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, by his wife the former Mary Betty Warde-Aldam (b 27 Mar, 1909 -  d 1978). Mary Betty Norbury received the Hooton Pagnell estate as a gift from her father, Col William St Andrew Warde-Aldam, in 1952, and she and her husband assumed the surname of Warde-Norbury by Royal Licence in 1958.

She leaves issue ~ William Mark Antony, born 29 Jul, 1962, (who succeeded to the Hooton Pagnell estate some years ago) and Alistair George, b 1966.

Hon Caroline Elizabeth Maud Partridge (nee Cust) 1928-2015

_. The Hon Caroline Partridge, who died 13 January, 2015, aged 86, was a scion of the Barons Brownlow (Baron, GB, cr 1776).

She was born the Hon Caroline Elizabeth Maud Cust, 5 Oct, 1928, the only daughter of the 6th Baron Brownlow, DL (1899-1978), of Belton House, near Grantham, by his 1st wife the former Katherine Kinloch, scion of the Kinloch baronets (Bt, Novia Scotia, 1686). Her father, a Lord in Waiting to King Edward VIII, accompanied the then Mrs Wallis Simpson to France during the Abdication Crisis, 1936, &c.

She married 15 May, 1954 (div 1973), John Arthur Partridge, son of Claud Partridge, by whom she had issue. She was Mayoress of Grantham, 1950-51.

Rory Wolfe Murray married firstly, in 1987, Marion Zorab, by whom he has issue. He is a grandson maternally of Sir Alec Douglas-Home, the Prime Minister 1963-64 (aka the disclaimed 14th Earl of Home, and later Baron Home of the Hirsel, &c.)

Theodore Alfred James Montagu (born 2015)

_.The Hon Pollyanna Mary Clare Montagu (b 1981, nee Harmsworth), wife of Lieutenant Timothy B.E.P. Montagu, RN (b 1982), gave birth to a son, Theodore Alfred James, at Winchester, 7 January, 2015, a brother for Amelia Faye Julia, who was born 8 March, 2011.

 

Timothy Montagu is the son of Peter Edward Gerald Body by his wife the former Lady Julia Frances Montagu (now deceased), and Pollyanna is the youngest dau of the 3rd Baron Harmsworth and Baroness Harmsworth.

Lt. Montagu has been adopted by his uncle and aunt, the 11th Earl and Countess of Sandwich.

_. Lucy Heathcoat Amory (nee Reid), wife of Simon Charles Heathcoat Amory (b 1982), scion of the Heathcoat Amory Baronets (Baronet, UK, cr 1874), gave birth to a son, George Richard, 30 December, 2014, a brother for Arthur.

Simon is the elder son of Charles William Heathcoat Amory (b 1945), of South Molton, Devon, and Mrs Harmony Joanna Heathcoat Amory (nee Lyell), of Wylye, Wiltshire, and Lucy Heathcoat Amory is the elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Reid, of Harpenden, Hertfordshire.

Camilla Dorothy Leigh-Pemberton (born 2015)

_.Saskia Anne Leigh-Pemberton (b 6 Aug 1977, nee Stirling-Aird), wife of Charles D. Leigh-Pemberton, scion of the landed family of that name,(and nephew of the life peer Baron Kingsdown, KG, PC), gave birth to a daughter Camilla Dorothy, 10 January, 2015, a sister for Elizabeth Helen, who was born 6 December, 2012.

Charles Leigh-Pemberton is a son of Nigel Leigh- Pemberton (b 1929), of Barfrestone, Kent, and Mrs Leigh-Pemberton, and Saskia, a scion of the LG family of Stirling-Aird of Kippendavie (descended from Stirling of Keir), is the 2nd daughter of Patrick Kenneth Stirling-Aird (b 10 Aug 1943), of Dunblane, Perthshire, by his wife the former Elizabeth Susan Wakeham.

Richard John Hannay Meade, OBE 1938-2015

_. Richard John Hannay Meade, OBE, equestrian, Olympic horse~man, who died 8 January, 2015, aged 76, was a former squeeze of the Princess Royal.

He was born 4 December, 1938, son of John Meade (1907-2005), by his wife, nee Watts; married 1977, Angela Dorothy Farquhar (b 1948), scion of the Farquhar baronets (Bt, GB, 1796), by whom he had issue, 3 sons and one dau. He is survived by his wife and two sons, James and Harry, and by a daughter, Lucy.

(The Telegraph obit says he's Richard John Hannay Meade, but Debrett's says "Hassan" not Hannay.)

. Anne Louise Hoare {nee Deterding}, who died 5 January, 2015, aged 88, was the widow of Col Ronald Jack Hoare, OBE (b 1913)....

She was born 4 Oct, 1926, daughter of Ronald Deterding (1900-57), of Kelling Hall, Holt, Norfolk, by his wife, the former Ethel Louise Philbrick (1902-91) ~~~  Kin of Sir Henry Deterding, founder of Royal Dutch Shell ???

She married Colonel Hoare in 1948. Mother of Louise, Christopher & Marty.

_.Fabiana Bond (nee Marenghi Vaselli, born Rome 16 Jan, 1982), wife of Harry Piers S. Bond (b 1976), descended from the Earls Fitzwilliam (extinct 1979), gave birth to a son, Nicholas Fabio Stanley, 18 December, 2014, a brother for Philip Robert Shaw, who was b 15 March, 2013.

Harry is the elder son of Ian Robin Stanley Bond (b 1940), by his wife the former Caroline Louise Faber, and Fabiana is a daughter of il Conte Marco Fabio Marenghi Vaselli,Conte di Gorgascura (b Rome, 18 Nov, 1953) and Donna Patrizia dei principi Ruspoli Memmo, of Rome.

Harry Bond's sister, Candida, is Viscountess Petersham, wife of the Earl of Harrington's heir.

Hon Angela Margo Hamar Delevingne 1912-2014

_. The Hon Angela Delevingne, who died 30 December, 2014, aged 102, was a scion of the Viscounts Greenwood (Peerage of the UK, cr 1937; extinct 7 Jul 2003).

She was born Angela Margo Hamar Greenwood, 8 July, 1912, eldest daughter of Hamar Greenwood, 1st Viscount Greenwood (1870-1948), by his wife the former Margery Spencer (who d 1968); married 4 Nov, 1937, (Dudley) Edward Delevingne (d 1974), son of Edward Charles Delevingne, of Beckenham, Kent, by whom she had issue, two sons and two daughters.

Her brothers were the 2nd Viscount Greenwood (d 1998), and 3rd Viscount (d 2003). Her granddaughters are the socialites/models/actresses Chloe, Poppy and Cara Delevingne.

2nd Baron Strang 1922-2014

_. The 2nd (and last) Baron Strang, died 19 December, 2014. He was 92.

Colin Strang, was born 12 June, 1922, son of the 1st Baron Strang, GCB, GCMG, MBE (1893-1978), by his wife the former Elsie Wynne Jones (d 23 Sept, 1974), and succeeded to the barony (cr 1954), on his father's demise, 27 May, 1978. 

Lord Strang was Lecturer in Philosophy, Queen's Univ, Belfast 1951-53, and King's College, Newcastle 1953-75; Prof of Philosophy, Univ of Newcast;le 1975-82, Dean of Faculty of Arts, Univ of Newcastle 1976-79, &c.

He was three times wed and elaves a daughter Caroline, from the 2nd union. The peerage now becomes extinct.

William Shand Kydd 1937-2014

_. William Shand Kydd, who has died (Dec 2014) aged 77, was the younger half-brother of Peter Shand Kydd, sometime step-father of Diana, Princess of Wales.

He was born in 1937, a son of Norman Shand Kydd (1895-1962), of Horton Hall, Horton, Buckinghamshire. 

Bill Shand Kydd married Christina Muriel Duncan, a daughter of Maj Charles Moorhouse Duncan, by his wife the former Thelma Winifred Watts, and a sister of Veronica Countess of Lucan, wife of the elusive 7th Earl of Lucan. He leaves 2 children, Caspar and Lucinda. His daughter is Lady Kleinwort, wife of Sir Richard Kleinwort, 7th Baronet.

8th Duke of Wellington, KG, LVO,OBE, MC (1915-2014)

_. The 8th Duke of Wellington (Peerage of the UK, cr 1814), died at his home at Stratfield Saye, near Basingstoke, 31 December, 2014. He was aged 99.

Arthur Valerian Wellesley was born 2 July, 1915, son of the 7th Duke of Wellington (1885-1972), by his wife the former Dorothy Violet Ashton (d 1956), and succeeded to the family honours on his father's demise. 4 Jan, 1972.

The duke married 28 Jan, 1944, Diana Ruth McConnel (d 1 Nov, 2010), by whom he had issue, four sons and one daughter.

He is succeeded by his eldest son, (Arthur) Charles Valerian Wellesley, Marquess of Douro, who was born 19 August, 1945, and is married to Princess Antonia von Preussen, descended from Wilhelm III, German Emperor (and thus from Queen Victoria).

The Duke of Wellington's funeral takes place 8 January, 2015.

11th Baron Vaux of Harrowden 1940-2014

_. The 11th Baron Vaux of Harrowden (Peerage of England, cr 1523), died suddenly 16 December, 2014. He was 74.

Anthony William Gilbey was born 25 May, 1940, eldest son of the 10th Baron Vaux of Harrowden (1915-2002), by his wife (and cousin) the former Pamela Maureen Gilbey (b 1919), and succeeded his father in the peerage, 3 Aug, 2002.

Lord Vaux married in July, 1964, Beverley Anne Walton, daughter of Charles Alexander Walton, of Cooden, co Sussex, by whom he had issue. He is succeeded as 12th Baron by his elder son, the Hon Richard Hubert Gordon Gilbey, who was born 16 March, 1965.

The funeral took place at Harrowden, 22 Dec, 2014.
