_. The Lady Herries of Terregles, who died 23 November, 2014, aged 76, was the fourteenth holder of the Lordship in the Peerage of Scotland (Lordship, Scot, cr 1490), and was widow of the cricketer Colin Cowdrey.
She was born Lady Anne Elizabeth Fitzalan Howard, 12 June., 1938, eldest of the four daughters of Bernard Marmaduke Fitzalan Howard, 16th Duke of Norfolk (and 13th Lord Herries), KG, GCVO, GBE 1908-75, by his wife Lavinia Duchess of Norfolk, LG (nee Strutt) d 10 Dec, 1995, scion of the Barons Belper.
She succeeded to her father's Lordship of Herries of Terregles on his demise, 31 January, 1975; and married in Sept, 1985, as his second wife, the England Test cricketer, Colin Cowdrey, CBE (afterwards a life peer as Baron Cowdrey of Tonbridge, 1932-2000).
Lady Herries is succeeded in the Lordship by her next sister, the Lady Mary Katherine Mumford, DCVO, (b 14 Aug 1940), a widow, long~serving Lady~in~Waiting to HRH Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy.
