Henry Vivian Pierpoint Conyngham was born 23 May, 1951, son of the 7th Marquess (1924-2009), by his 1st wife the former Eileen Wren Newsam (who died 2016); and he succeeded to the family honours, 3 March, 2009.
He married firstly, 1971 (div. 1985) Juliet Ann Kitson, 2nd daughter of Robert Richard Buller Kitson, of Churchtown, Morval, co. Cornwall; by whom he had issue,

The Marquess married secondly in 1985:-
