Sir Stephen Furness, 3rd Baronet, died 16 November, 2024, aged 91.
Sir Stephen was a farmer and sporting/landscape artist. He was born 10 October, 1933, son of Sir Christopher Furness, 2nd Baronet (1900-1974), and his wife the former Violet Flower Chipchase Roberts (who died in 1988), and succeeded to the baronetcy (cr UK, 1913, of Tunstall Grange), 21 June, 1974.
His home for some years was Stanhow Farm, Great Langton, Northallerton, North Yorkshire.
He married 6 April 1961, Mary Cann, daughter of Jack Fitzroy Cann, of Cullompton, Devon, by whom he had issue, a son, Michael and a daughter, Serena.
Career: served in the Royal Navy (1952); Observer, Fleet Air Arm, 1957, retired 1962; NCA Newton Rigg Farm Institute 1964; member of the Armed Forces Art Society; member Darlington Art Soc.
He is succeeded in the baronetcy by his only son, Michael Fitzroy Roberts Furness (born 12 Oct, 1962).
