Helen Lady Pickthorn, who died 1 August, 2025, aged 98, was the widow of Sir Charles Pickthorn, 2nd Baronet.
She was the former Helen Antonia Mann, born 31 July, 1927, daughter of Sir James Gow Mann, KCVO (1897-1962), an eminent figure in the art world, who was surveyor of the King's Works of Art 1945-52, and then surveyor of the Queen's Works of Art 1952-62, by his wife the former Mary Cooke, daughter of the Rev Dr G.A. Cooke.
She was a granddaughter of the post-impressionist painter Alexander Mann (1853-1908).
She married 5 July, 1951, Charles William Richards Pickthorn, (born 3 March, 1927), a barrister, son of Sir Kenneth William Murray Pickthorn, 1st Baronet, PC (1892-1975), sometime MP for Carlton 1950-66, and a junior minister in Churchill's Conservative government 1951-54, created a baronet in 1959, by his wife the former Nancy Catherine Lewis Richards (who died 15 July, 1982). Her husband succeeded to his father's baronetcy, 12 November, 1975, and died 20 June, 1995.
Lady Pickthorn leaves issue, a son, Sir James Pickthorn, 3rd Baronet (born 18 Feb, 1955), and two daughters, Caroline (b 26 Jan, 1958), and Frances (b 9 Apr, 1960).
