The Baron Harrison, life peer and Labour party politician, died 18 October, 2024, aged 77.
Lyndon Henry Arthur Harrison was born 28 September, 1947, son of Charles and Edith Harrison.
He was a Labour Party local councillor from 1981 to 1990, serving on Cheshire County Council. He was Member of the European Parliament from 1989 to 1999, representing the Cheshire West constituency. He was created a life peer on 28 July 1999. His peerage was gazetted in the name, style and title of Baron Harrison, of Chester in the County of Cheshire. He spoke regularly in the House of Lords until his retirement on 11 July 2022. Lord Harrison was a Humanist. He was a member of the All Party Parliamentary Humanist Group and a Distinguished Supporter of Humanists UK. He was also an honorary associate of the National Secular Society.
