The Baron Amwell, 3rd Baron in the Peerage of the United Kingdom died 3 September, 2024, aged 91.
Keith Norman Montague was born 1 April, 1943, son of the then Frederick Norman Montague (born 6 Nov, 1912), and his wife the former Kathleen Elizabeth Fountain (b 1928). He was a grandson of Frederick Montague (1876-1966), Labour MP for West Islington 1923-31, and 1935-47, a member of the wartime coalition government, created a peer, as Baron Amwell, 16 July, 1947.
Keith Montague's father succeeded as 2nd Baron Amwell, 15 Oct, 1966, and died in Oct 1990.
Keith Montague was educated at Nottingham University (BSc in Civil Engineering), was a consulting civil engineer, 1965-96; a director of Brian Colquhoun and Partners, then Thorburn Colquhoun Ltd, consulting engineers, 1994-96; Development Director, Construction Industry Research and Information Association (1998).
He was CEng; FICE; CGeol; FGS; MIHT.
He married 5 May, 1970, Mary Palfreyman (born 1948), daughter of Frank William Palfreyman (1917-1986), of Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, and his wife the former Jessie Harrison, by whom he had issue, two sons, Ian and Christopher. The elder son, the Hon Ian Keith Montague (born 20 September, 1973), succeeds as the 4th Baron Amwell.
