Lord Tomlinson, a Labour Co-operative politician life peer, died 20 January, 2024, aged 84.
John Edward Tomlinson was born 1 Aug, 1939, and was Labour MP for Meriden, 1974-79; and MEP for Birmingham West 1974-99; and was PPS to the Prime Minister, Harold Wilson, 1975-76; Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, 1976-79; Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Development 1977-79; and created a life peer in 1998, as Baron Tomlinson, of Walsall in the County of West Midlands.
