Joseph McCorquodale (born 2022)

Bianca McCorquodale (nee Moore), wife of George Edmund McCorquodale (born 17 November, 1984), scion of that landed family, and descended from the Earls Spencer, gave birth to a son, Joseph, 30 March, 2022, a brother for Sybil (born 12 May, 2017) and for Molly (born 31 January, 2020).

Bianca is a daughter of of Mr & Mrs Gavin Moore, of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. She married 6 Aug, 2016, George McCorquodale, son of Neil Edmund McCorquodale (born 1951), of Stoke Rochford, Lincolnshire, by his wife the former Lady (Elizabeth) Sarah Lavinia Spencer (born 19 March, 1955), scion of the Earls Spencer (Peerage of GB, cr 1765).

George McCorquodale is a first cousin of TRH The Prince of Wales and Duke of Sussex, &c, and is a grandson of the late 8th Earl Spencer.

The 3rd Baron Hazlerigg 1951-2022

 Lord Hazlerigg, the 3rd Baron, died 29 March, 2022. He was 70.

Arthur Grey Hazlerigg was born 5 May, 1951, son of the 2nd Baron Hazlerigg [1910-2002], and his wife the former Patricia Ethel Pullar [1915-72], and succeeded to the peerage on his father's death, 30 September, 2002. The title was created in 1945 for his grandfather, Sir Arthur Hazlerigg, 13th Baronet [cr 1622].

The family are descended from Sir Arthur Hesilrige/Haselrig, one of the Five Members, who sat in the Long and Short Parliaments for Leicestershire, commanded a Parliamentary regiment of cuirassiers, and in 1647 became Governor of Newcastle. In 1660 he half acquiesced in the Restoration of King Charles II, but died a prisoner in the Tower of London, 7 January, 1661. The 11th Baronet, in 1818, adopted the present spelling of the family surname.

He married firstly, 1986 [div 1998], Laura Dugdale [born 20 Sept, 1953], scion of the Dugdale baronets, daughter of Sir William Stratford Dugdale, 2nd Baronet [1922-2014], and his wife Lady Belinda Pleydell-Bouverie [1925-61], scion of the Earls of Radnor; married 2ndly, 1 September, 1999, Mrs Shan Chichester, former wife of Dermot Michael Claud Chichester [born 22 Nov, 1953], scion of the Marquesses of Donegall, and daughter of Alastair Ros McIndoe [1926-85] and his wife the former Eileen Campbell [d 2016].

Lord Hazlerigg is succeeded by the son of his first marriage, the Hon Arthur William Grey Hazlerigg [who was born 13 May, 1987].

Dorothy Vernon Boyle [nee Egerton-Warburton] 1929-2022

 Dorothy Vernon Boyle, who has died 92, was a scion of the Egerton-Warburton family, descended from the Egerton baronets.

Dorothy Vernon Egerton-Warburton was born 3 November, 1929, the elder daughter of George Grey Egerton-Warburton [1899-1975], and his wife the former Ethel Vernon Drake-Brockman [who died 1995]; and married 9 September, 1954, Major John Gordon Boyle, 7th Gurkha Rifles, by whom she had two daughters, Angela [born 5 Nov, 1955], and Erica [born 4 Mar 1960].

Capt Sir David John Christopher Stewart, 7th Baronet 1935-2022

 Capt Sir David Stewart, 7th Baronet, died 20 March, 2022. He was 86.

He was born 19 June, 1935, son of Sir Hugh Charles Godfray Stewart, 6th Baronet (1897-1994) and his 1st wife the former Rosemary Elinor Dorothy Peacocke (1902-86); and married 7 Nov, 1959, Bridget Anne Wood Sim, daughter of Patrick Wood Sim, by whom he had three daughters.

He succeeded to the baronetcy, 31 July, 1994, on the death of his father. The baronetcy was created  in 1803 for his ancestor John Stewart, MP for County Tyrone 1802-06.

He is succeeded in the baronetcy by his half-brother, Hugh Nicholas Stewart, who was born 20 Apr, 1955.

 . Emma Jane Renshaw (nee Wentworth-Stanley, born 1981), wife of Rory Andrew Renshaw (born 1980), gave birth to a son, Miles Rory, 24 March, 2022, a brother for George Andrew, b 29 June, 2016, and Nicholas Michael [Nico], who was b 24 August, 2018.

Rory Renshaw, a scion of the Renshaw baronets, is a son of Wing-Commander Andrew Renshaw, by his wife the former Cherry Rose Russell, descended from the Chichester baronets.

Emma Renshaw, scion of the Wentworth-Stanley landed gentry family, is a daughter of David Wentworth-Stanley by his wife the former Jane Hall.

Hon Barbara Helen Ormrod [nee FitzRoy] 1928-2022

 The Hon Barbara Ormrod [nee FitzRoy], who died 24 March, 2022, aged 93, was a scion of the Viscounts Daventry, and a direct descendant of the Merrie Monarch King Charles II.

She was born 10 December, 1928, fourth daughter of the 2nd Viscount Daventry [1893-1986], and his wife the former Grace Zoë Guinness [1893-1978], scion of the eponymous brewing dynasty.

She married 18 April, 1952, Colonel Peter Charles Ormrod, MC [1922-2007], son of Maj James Ormrod [1883-1945] and his wife the former Winifred Selina Bulkeley [1886-1973], scion of the Bulkeley landed gentry family, by whom she had two daughters, Emma and Alice. 

She was widowed 2 September, 2007.

The 4th Baron Gainford 1926-2022

 The 4th Baron Gainford died 12 March, 2022. He was 95.

George Pease was born 20 April, 1926, a younger son of the 2nd Baron Gainford (1889-1971) and his wife the former Veronica Margaret Noble (1900-95), scion of the Noble baronets.

He succeeded to the title, 4 April, 2013, on the death of his elder brother. 

He married 18 January, 1958, Flora Daphne Dyce-Sharp (1924-2010), daughter of Neville Alexander Dyce-Sharp (1884-1942)and his wife the former Flora Macdonald (1897-1983), scion of that landed family and kinswoman of her namesake who aided in the escape of Bonnie Prince Charlie after the rebellion of 1745.

He leaves a son and two daughters. The peerage (UK, cr 1917) is now inherited by his only son, the Hon Christopher Adrian Pease, who was born 1 Feb, 1960.

The 7th Earl of Effingham 1939-2022

 Commander the 7th Earl of Effingham died 26 February, 2022, aged 82.

David Mowbray Algernon Howard was born 29 April, 1939, son of the Hon John Algernon Frederick Howard (1907-70) and his wife the former Suzanne Patricia Macassey (1918-89), and was descended in the direct male line from the 2nd Duke of Norfolk.

He succeeded his uncle, 22 Feb 1996, as 7th Earl of Effingham (cr 1837) and as 17th Baron Howard of Effingham (cr 1553/54).

He was twice married, firstly, 10 Oct, 1964 (div 1975) to Anne Mary Sayer (1938-2016), daughter of Harrison Sayer (1912-1980), and the former Hilda Mary Reynolds (1913-89), by whom he had issue, one son and heir; married 2ndly, 27 Dec, 1992, Elizabeth Jane Eccleston.

The Earldom and barony now pass to his only son, Edward Mowbray Nicholas Howard, who was born 11 May, 1971.

 ._Rachel Colquhoun [nee Norris], wife of Fergus Alexander Mears Colquhoun (born 1991), scion of the Colquhoun baronets, of Luss, gave birth to a daughter, Freya Mary Heather Ann, 23 March, 2022, a sister for Torquhil James Alexander, born 23 May, 2020.

Rachel is a daughter of of Professor James & the Rev. Julie Norris, of Barrington, Cambridgeshire, and Fergus is a son of Sir Malcolm Colquhoun of Luss, 9th Baronet (b 20 Dec, 1947), by his 2nd wife, the former Katharine Mears.

Baroness Howe of Idlicote, CBE 1932-2022

 The Baroness Howe of Idlicote, CBE, life peer, Chairman of the Broadcasting Standards Commission 1997-99 [Chairman Broadcasting Standards Council 1993-97], died 22 March, 2022. She was 90.

She was born Elspeth Rosamund Morton Shand, 8 February, 1932, daughter of Philip Morton Shand [1888-1960], and his fourth wife the former Sybil Mary Sissons [1895-1970], and was a [half] aunt of HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, KG, GCVO.

Elspeth Shand married 1953, [Richard Edward] Geoffrey Howe, QC, PC [1926-2015], later the Baron Howe of Aberavon, the Conservative Government minister, sometime Chancellor of the Exchequer and Foreign Secretary, &c., by whom she had issue, one son and two daughters.

All her life she was a committee woman, most notably chairing the Broadcasting Standards Commission from 1997 until 1999 and the Broadcasting Standards Council for four years before that. Her career was garlanded with honours, and in 2001 she was appointed to the House of Lords as Baroness Howe of Idlicote, of Shipston-on-Stour in the County of Warwickshire, in the first list of “people’s peers”. She and her husband – who had become Lord Howe of Aberavon in 1992 – were among the few couples to sit in the Lords each in their own right.

Lady Howe served as deputy chairman of the Equal Opportunities Commission from 1975 to 1979, and in various other capacities from 1980. She was later made chair of the Broadcasting Standards Commission. In the 1999 New Year Honours she was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). Lady Howe was a Justice of the Peace in Inner London from 1964 until her retirement from the Bench in 2002. She sat in the Youth Court at Camberwell where she was a bench chairman.

She was born in 1927, daughter of Bernard Francis Brunt [1888-1949], of Hampstead, London, and his wife the former Florence Alexandra Butcher [1902-79]; and married in 1959, as his second wife, Roderick William Burn-Callander [1920-2001], scion of that landed gentry family, son of Alfred Burn-Callander [1880-1966], and his wife the former Edith Eleanor Burn [1900-73].

She was born in 1930 as Dorinda Margery Percival, daughter of Lieutenant-General Arthur Ernest Percival, CB, CMG, DSO, MC [1888-1966], of Ware, Hertfordshire, and his wife the former Margaret Elizabeth MacGregor Greer [1897-1953], scion of that Irish landed family; and married 5 December, 1959, Charles Edward Henry John Mulholland, 4th Baron Dunleath [born 23 June, 1933], son and heir of the 3rd Baron Dunleath [1886-1956], and his wife the former Henrietta Grace D'Arcy [1892-1969]. Her husband had succeeded his father, 20 July 1956, as 4th Baron Dunleath [Peerage of the UK, cr 1892], and he died without issue, 9 January, 1993.

 Dr Liz Shore, CB (Baroness Shore of Stepney), died 20 February, 2022.

She was the widow of Peter Shore, the Labour Cabinet minister, later life peer.

She was born Elizabeth Catherine Wrong, 19 Aug, 1927, daughter of the Canadian-born historian (Edward) Murray Wrong (1889-1928), and his wife Rosalind Grace Smith (1892-1984); and married 1948, Peter David Shore, Labour MP for Bethnal Green and Stepney 1964-74, and Stepney & Poplar 1974-83, who was created a life peer as Baron Shore of Stepney, on leaving the House of Commons. She was widowed, 24 September, 2001. She leaves four children.

 The Countess of Buchan, who died 10 March, 2022, was wife of the 17th Earl of Buchan.

The former Hilary Diana Power, was born in 1930, the only daughter of Sir Ivan Power, 2nd Baronet (1904-54), and his wife the former Nancy Hilary Griffiths (1906-94); and married 21 February, 1957, the 17th Earl of Buchan, possessor of one of Scotland’s senior earldoms (created in 1469), son of the 16th Earl (1899-1984) and his wife the former Christina Baxendale Woolner (1906-94), by whom she has two sons and two daughters.

The 9th Viscount Falmouth 1919-2022

 The 9th Viscount Falmouth, who died 7 March, 2022, aged 102, was the oldest living peer at his decease, and a former Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall.

Viscount Falmouth was a substantial landowner in Cornwall. The family estate at Tregothnan House, is situated near Truro, and has been in the Boscawen family for centuries.

George Hugh Boscawen was born 31 October, 1919, son of the 8th Viscount Falmouth (1887-1962), and his wife the former Mary Margaret Desiree Meynell (1894-1985), scion of that landed family, descended from the Viscounts (now Earls) of Halifax. 

George Boscawen, a Captain in the Coldstream Guards, 1939-45, succeeded to the viscountcy (created Peerage of Gt Britain, 1720) on his father’s death, 18 February, 1962.

The title Viscount Falmouth was created for his ancestor who served as Groom of the Bedchamber to Prince George of Denmark, husband of Queen Anne. The 1st Viscount was also Warden of the Stannaries and Comptroller of the Household to King George I, 1714-20.

The 9th Viscount was Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, 1977-94.

Lord Falmouth married 9 May, 1953, (Beryl) Elizabeth Price Browne (1925-2007), daughter of Arthur Harold Browne (1896-1977), by whom he had issue, four sons. The eldest son, the Hon Evelyn Arthur Hugh Boscawen (born 13 May 1955) succeeds as 10th Viscount.

Sir Richard William Hyde Parker, 12th Baronet 1937-2022

 Sir Richard Hyde Parker, 12th Baronet [cr 1681], DL, of Melford Hall, Long Melford, Suffolk, died 14 March, 2022. He was 84.

Sir Richard was High Sheriff and DL, Suffolk, 1995.

Richard William Hyde Parker was born 5 April, 1937, son of Sir William Stephen Hyde Parker, 11th Baronet [1892-1951], and his wife the former Ulla Ditlef Nielson [1908-1998], and succeeded to the baronetcy on his father's death, 29 July, 1951.

He married 10 November, 1972, Elizabeth Jean Leslie [born 21 Apr, 1952], daughter of Sir Henry John Lindores Leslie, 9th Baronet [1920-67], and his wife the former Colette Kathleen Cregan [1917-2013], by whom he had one son, William [born 10 June, 1983], and three daughters, Beata [born 1973], Margaret [twin with sister Beata] [born 1973], and Lucy [born 1975].

He is succeeded in the baronetcy by his only son.

Sir Jeremy Child, 3rd Baronet 1944-2022

 Sir (Coles John) Jeremy Child, 3rd Baronet, the actor, died 7 March, 2022. He was 77.

He was born 20 September, 1944, the only son of Sir Coles John Child, 2nd Baronet (1906-71), and his wife the former Sheila Mathewson (died 1964), and was educated at Eton.

He succeeded to the baronetcy on his father’s death, in 1971, but did not use the title.  Jeremy Child was thrice wed; firstly in 1971 (div 1976) to the actress Deborah Grant; then in 1978 (div 1986) to the dancer Jan Todd; and thirdly in 1987 to Elizabeth Morgan (who predeceased him in 2019).

The baronetcy now passes to his son from his second marriage, Coles John Alexander Child, who was born 10 May, 1982

Darcey Violet Ewing Brooksbank (born 2022)

. Amy Louise E. Brooksbank [nee Rodgers, born 1988], wife of Thomas George [Tom] Brooksbank (born 1988), scion of the Brooksbank baronets, gave birth to a daughter, Darcey Violet Ewing, 22 February, 2022, a sister for Wilfred Stamp Ewing Brooksbank, born, 7 July, 2020.

 Thomas Brooksbank is the younger brother of Mr Jack Brooksbank, husband of HRH Princess Eugenie of York, and was best man at the Royal wedding in October, 2018. He is the son of George Edward Hugh Brooksbank (born 8 February, 1949), of Battersea, London, by his wife the former Nicola Newton [born 1953], a descendant paternally of the Meyrick baronets, and maternally of the Houssemayne du Boulay landed gentry family.

Amy Brooksbank is a daughter of Timothy A.E. Rodgers, of Taunton, Somerset, by his wife the former Susan Shave.

The Brooksbanks are of Yorkshire landed gentry stock who received a baronetcy in 1919. Tom and his brother Jack are descended from a younger son of the 1st baronet, Sir Edward Brooksbank, who was chairman of Barkston Ash Conservative Association for over 40 years.

Sir Nicholas Brooksbank, the 3rd Baronet, of Ryton Grange, near Malton, is married to the Hon Emma Wood, whose grandfather, the 1st Earl of Halifax, KG, was foreign secretary and a Viceroy of India.

Sir Nicholas's son, Charles Brooksbank, gave one of the readings at the wedding of cousin Jack and Princess Eugenie.

 Ann, Lady Ricketts, who died 8 March, 2022, aged 74, was the widow of Sir Tristram Ricketts, 8th Baronet [1946-2007].

She was born in 1947, as Ann Lewis, daughter of Eric William Charles Lewis, CB [1914-81], and his wife the former Jessie Davies [1915-2018]; and married 2 August, 1969, Robert Tristram Ricketts [born 17 Apr, 1946], son of Sir Robert Cornwallis Gerald St Leger Ricketts, 7th Baronet [1917-2005], and his wife the former Anne Theresa Cripps [1919-98], scion of the Barons Parmoor. Her husband succeeded his father, 6 Oct, 2005, as the 8th baronet [cr 1828], and died circa 10 November, 2007.

She leaves a son, Sir Stephen Ricketts, 9th Bt [born 1974], and a daughter, Clare [born 21 Jan, 1977].

 Lucinda Eleanor Christine Warren (nee Beaumont, born 1991), wife of Michael Warren, and scion of the Viscounts Allendale, gave birth to a daughter, Agatha Jane Violet, in Paris, 8 March, 2022.

Lucinda is a daughter of Andrew John Blackett Beaumont (born 27 March, 1956), and his late wife Jane Margaret Weedon (1964-2020).

 Mark Richard Sykes, who has died aged 84, was a scion of the Sykes baronets of Sledmere, and descended from the Dukes of Bedford.

He was born 9 June, 1937, son of the writer Christopher Sykes (1907-86) and his wife the former Camilla Georgiana Russell (1912-83), scion of the Dukes of Bedford; and was educated at Downside and at Christ Church, Oxford.

He married 1stly 21 February, 1962 (div 1965), Helen Homweood, daughter of Dr Arthur Norman Homewood; married 2ndly 1968, Valerie Goad; and 3rdly, Alexandra Sotomayor.

Mark Sykes leaves six children, three sons, Thomas, Frederick and Joshua, and three daughters, Lucy, Victoria, and Alice.

Mark Sykes was a grandson of Sir Mark Sykes, 6th Baronet.

 The Hon Camilla Frances Iona Cotton (born 1985, nee Bridges), wife of Edward D. Cotton, gave birth to a daughter, Ottilie Eleanor Sophia, 6 March, 2022.

Edward Cotton is the elder son of Mr Neil Cotton, of Fernhurst, west Sussex, and Mrs Christine Cotton, of Poole, Dorset.

The Hon Camilla Cotton is the middle daughter of the 3rd Baron Bridges (born 25 Jul 1954), of Berwick St John, Wiltshire, by his wife the former Angela Margaret Collinson.

 Sir Charles Gray, who died 3 March, 2022, aged 79, was a former Judge of the High Court, Queen's Bench Division.

James Wogan Remnant was born 23 October, 1930, son of the 2nd Baron Remnant [1895-1967], and his wife the former Norah Susan Wogan-Browne [died 1990]; and succeeded to the peerage [created in 1928], and the family baronetcy [created in 1917], on his father's death, 4 June, 1967.

Lord Remnant, who lived near Reading, in Berkshire, was appointed CVO in 1979.

He married 24 June, 1953, Serena Jane Loehnis [born 23 May, 1932], daughter of Commander Sir Clive Loehnis, KCMG, RN [1902-92], sometime Director of GCHQ, and his wife the former Rosemary Beryl Ryder [1909-2006], scion of the Earls of Harrowby, by whom he had issue, three sons, Philip, Robert and Hugo, and a daughter, Melissa. The eldest son, the Hon Philip John Remnant [born 20 Dec, 1954], now succeeds to the peerage and baronetcy.

 Anthony Merrik Burrell, who died 2 March, 2022, aged 53, was a scion of the Burrell baronets. He had been suffering from pancreatic cancer. Mr Burrell was a son-in-law of the late 12th Duke of Argyll.
