Sir Edmund Ralph Verney, 6th Baronet, died 12 September, 2026. He was 76.
He was seated until a few years ago at Claydon House, Buckinghamshire, home of the Verney family from 1620, until it was given in 1956 to the National Trust by his father, the 5th baronet.
He was born 28 June, 1950, son of Sir Ralph Verney, 5th Baronet (1915-2001), and his wife the former Mary Vestey (1925-2015), scion of the Vestey baronets.
He succeeded to the baronetcy (created UK, 1818), on his father's death, 17 August, 2001.
He served as High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, 1998-99.
Sir Edmund married in 1982, Daphne Primrose Fausset-Farquhar (born 1945), daughter of Colonel Andrew Hamilton Farquhar Fausset-Farquhar, DSO, TD (1904-1987), and his wife the former Mary Macpherson-Grant (1905-1996), scion of that landed gentry family, by whom he had issue, a son [Andrew] Nicholas (born 9 July, 1983), and a daughter, Ella [born 30 Apr, 1985].
His only son succeeds as 7th baronet.
