The engagement was announced 16 December, 2023, between Thomas Henry Aloysius Scrope (born 31 August, 1994), scion of the Scrope landed gentry family of Danby, younger son of Major Peter Geoffrey Scrope (born 3 January,1955), and his wife the former Penelope Eldrydd Davies (born 31 March, 1955), scion of the Barons Davies, & Cressida May Shaw (born 1994), elder daughter of Professor Rory James Swanton Shaw (born 1954), and his late wife the former Sarah Margaret Foulkes (1958-2011).
