Deirdre Leivi, who died 11 April, 2023, aged 91, was a former wife of the writer Cyril Connolly, and widow of the poet Peter Levi, and a scion of the Viscounts Craigavon.
She was born Deirdre Craig, 4 December, 1931, daughter of Major the Hon Patrick William Dennis Craig, MBE (1906-1972), and his 1st wife the former Aline Margaret Mary McClaren Cummings; and she married firstly, 9 July, 1951 (div 1959) Jonathan Craven, only son of Major Alfred Eric Lawrence Craven, JP, of Ringwell House, Ditcheat, Somerset; married 2ndly, 27 April, 1959, Cyril Vernon Connolly, CBE (1903-1974), son of Major Matthew William Kemble Connolly, of The Lock House, Deepcut, Surrey, by his wife Muriel Maud Vernon; and married 3rdly, 1977, Professor Peter Chad Tigar Levi, FSA, FRSL (1931-2000), son of Herbert Simon Levi, and his mother the former Edith Mary Tigar.
Her third husband died 1 February, 2000.
Mrs Levi leaves four children, two from her first marriage, Sarah and Simon Craven, and two from her second marriage, Cressida and Matthew Connolly.
