The Hon Catherine Mary Wass, OBE, who died 21 December, 2021, aged 79, was a scion of the Viscounts De L'Isle. She was a descendant of King William IV and his mistress, Mrs Jordan, the actress.
She was born Catherine Mary Sidney, 20 Oct, 1942, second daughter of the 1st Viscount De L'Isle, VC, KG, GCMG, GCVO, PC, DL [1909-1991], sometime Governor General of Australia, and his wife the former Hon Jacqueline Corinne Yvonne Vereker [1914-1962], only surv child of Field Marshal the 6th Viscount Gort, VC, GCB, CBE, DSO, MVO, MC [1886-1946].
She married firstly, 1 Dec, 1964 [div 1971], Martin John Wilbraham [1931-2018]; she married secondly, 1983, Nicholas Hyde Villiers [1939-1998], scion of the Earls of Clarendon; married thirdly, 2002, [Nigel] Samuel Wass.
She leaves three sons from her first marriage, Alexander, Rupert and Jocelyn.
