_. Lieutenant-Colonel Adrian John Conway Seymour, scion of the Marquesses of Hertford, died 12 September, 2020, at the age of 102.
Seymour was Col. Scots Guards [retired]; Lieutenant-Colonel commanding Scots Guards 1962-64. He served in the Second World War and was mentioned in Despatches.
He was born 11 June, 1918, son of Major Conway Hugh Seymour, MC [1886-1931], Scots Guards, by his wife the former Kathleen Butler [died 1950].
He was a grandson of the Rev Lord Victor Alexander Seymour [1859-1935], a godson of Queen Victoria, and a great-grandson of the 5th Marquess of Hertford [1812-84].
Adrian Seymour married 14 February, 1953, Elizabeth Ann Herbert [1927-2005], daughter of Lieutenant-General Sir Edwin Otway Herbert, KBE, CB, DSO, by his wife the former Muriel Barlow, by whom he had issue, two daughters, Virginia [born 1955], and Angela [1957-79].
