Lady Christopher Thynne 1940-2018

_. Lady Christopher Thynne, who died 24 August, 2018, was the widow of Lord Christopher Thynne (1934-2017), and was a scion of the Palmer baronets.

Antonia Mary Palmer was born in 1940, daughter of Maj Sir Anthony Frederick Mark Palmer, 4th Baronet, who was killed in action in 1941, by his wife the former Henriette Alice Cadogan, DCVO (who married 2ndly 1953, Brig Sir Alexander Abel Smith, KCVO, scion of the Dukes of Somerset, &c).

Antonia's mother was a Lady-in-Waiting to the Queen (when Princess Elizabeth) from 1949, a Woman of the Bedchamber to the Queen 1952-3; Extra Woman of the Bedchamber to HM 1953-73, and again Woman of the Bedchamber from 1973. She was appointed CVO in 1964, and advanced to DCVO in 1977.

Antonia married in 1968, Lord Christopher Thynne, second son of the late 6th Marquess of Bath (1905-92), by his first wife the former Hon Daphne Vivian, scion of the Barons Vivian.

Lady Christopher was widowed 27 January, 2017. She leaves issue.

Service of Thanksgiving takes place at St Swithins, Quenington, Gloucestershire, 4 October, 2018.
