__. Sir Adrian Swire, billionaire businessman, chairman of John Swire & Sons 1987-87, and 2002-04, died 24 August, 2018. He was 86.
He was born 15 Feb, 1932, a scion of the Swire landed family, son of John Kidston Swire (1893-1983) by his wife the former Juliet Richenda Barclay, scion of that landed family. He served in the Coldstream Guards.
He married in 1970, the Lady Judith Compton (born 1943), daughter of the 6th Marquess of Northampton, DSO (1885-1978), by his second wife, the former Virginia Lucie Heaton, by whom he had issue, three children, Merlin, Samuel and Martha.
The funeral takes place at the Church of the Holy Rood, Sparsholt, 18 September, 2018.
